They're doing a terrific job washing the brick

Ladder 36 status update? Those shingles aren't gonna wash themselves.

Happiest cop I ever saw was when we were first on scene for a slow roadside grass fire. Handed him the booster line and his grin nearly split his face.

Had a detective walk up to me when we were cleaning up and getting ready to leave and said “hey man I retire next week and just once I want to spray the hose at something” we let him take the bumper line and play with it for a few minutes. I’ve never seen a happier detective.

We were on a brush fire and the deputy was eyeing the tetra. We ended up letting him drive it and he got it stuck in under a minute. High centered it we then got to see his handy work with a shovel.

I love when the Fire Department comes out to wash my House. 🏠

Let’s not be putting any ideas in the heads of the city/county commissioners.

True story: at Christmas the FD that was local to my in-laws would drive super slow RLS through the high-income bracket hoods in town—it was customary for donations to the Firefighter’s Discretionary Fund to be collected.

THEY cleaned up.

All through the year, pools were filled, streets washed or other “honey do” FD tasks were ticked off.

I wish I was kidding, but my FIL was crazy generous and they didn’t even have a pool. Lol

Lol I bet the Firefighters were very happy to have to work.

Crazy, right?

And before I’m asked again via message—this was a career department.

I’m all for working smarter, not harder, but just the take from FIL and his closest friends/neighbors, the department took in over 10k.

Cha-Ching!!

Work it!

I wanted to clear up another question I’ve had.

This “fund” money went into fire company firefighter discretionary funds—nothing went into the department coffers.

So fire staffers got the full benefit. They spent it on what they wanted. I hope no one had to provide their own meals ever.

Perhabs they are cooling it? We had a gas fire and we were like spraying the water onto the house next to it to protect it from the heat while waiting for the gas company tell us where exactly is the valve that could close it. Maybe its like similar situation except inside the house?

Nope they are definitely washing the houses in the neighborhood here. Community service. The Bricks are dirty and they are cleaning them with soapy water to ensure the neighborhood looks presentable for the public.

Boys and Girls in blue don't understand brotherhood... Back a dude up! C'mon cops! Also, nice to see that even in Canada, they still want to be firefighters. I guess that's true everywhere.

looks like the got a knock on it even before the fire started...proactive firefighting at its best

We had a small trash fire on the side of the road one time and I pulled up right as the firefighters did. I asked if I can spray the hose. They handed me the hose and then one of guys grabbed his helmet and let me put it on.

They were laughing their ass off and snapped a few pictures. I’m sure they got a kick out of the police putting out the fire and I had fun putting it out. Made me almost wish I applied to the fire department instead of police.

Haha good one!

What kind of truck is that? I have never seen the discharges in the rear like that. Where is the pump panel?

3

u/Dal90 4d ago

Rear mount pump, panel is where the FF is standing.

Can't tell you why that department (looks like somewhere in Quebec) has one.

Town west of me has two, allows them to have four door custom cabs, full cabinet space, single rear axle and have 1500gpm/1500gwt. Puts more of the weight on the front axle to comply with the state bridge law requirements.

My area single rear axles with a mid-mount pump usually max out at 1200 gallon tanks.

I can’t say what’s the company of this truck but here it’s more commun. Can’t say why exactly

u/CatenaryLine 4d ago

Looks like a Quebec Plate.

1

u/scorp726 4d ago

Yes it is. In fact the city where this picture was taken is the city of Mercier.

u/flashdurb 4d ago

It’s an engine not a truck, first of all

I had a similar experience earlier this year when my neighbor’s house caught on fire. I ran outside and was doing structure protection on my garage with the garden hose since the flames were touching the edge of my roof.

The police came up to me and told me I had to contain my two dogs running around my fenced yard. So I handed them the hose, told them where to aim and threw my dogs in the back of my car. When I came back to the hose, they looked more annoyed than anything. Police make terrible firefighters.

After last night having a 2.5 story vacant house fire, fully involved on all sides and lighting an exposure on fire. Seeing this makes me laugh. Also makes me glad I work somewhere that sees a lot of real fire. Not kitchen fires or single room and contents, blazing well involved house fires.

1

u/Goddess_of_Carnage 4d ago

Blazing, “involved” fires hurt people.

Real fire causes destruction and damage.

10/10 would not want.

Yep, a YELP review!

1

u/MuscularShlong 4d ago

You must not be a firefighter!

u/Goddess_of_Carnage 4d ago

Well,, now…

Imagine trying to talk shit when you have gone defensive on a building that doesn’t even have smoke coming out of it.

1

u/Goddess_of_Carnage 4d ago

Why talk shit at all?

2

u/Gringodingo78 3d ago

I mean look at the name this is defiantly a 40 year fire battalion chief with hundreds grabs

1

u/Goddess_of_Carnage 3d ago

A not insignificant number of chiefs were once FF’s or line staff that were only minimally useful. Not doing the hard work leaves more time for dialing in their suction game.

I used to kinda look at boots, bunker & helmet. Now, with more new gear & actual mandates to wash & keep in tip, top shape—it’s harder. Helmets might give it up or not.

Talking shit is generally inversely proportional to the true crispness of the kit or actual mettle.

This is hilarious
