General Discussion Border Patrol agents arrested firefighters fighting Washington wildfire after they asked the fire crew to line up to check their IDs.

What do we all think of this? Seems pretty nuts to me. They are actively getting in the way of wildlands guys as they do their job out there. I dont think this should be allowed or encouraged. Firefighting is a lot more important than .... risking 20 guys dressed exactly like firefighters crossing the Canadian border?

These crews are very well known and have great reputations of not only being kind, but extremely hard workers. It’s a disgrace the IC didn’t tell the agents to fuck off due to lack of red cards. This is inhumane and fuck whoever on that IMT colluded with them.

In r/wildfire they name the IMT as California Interagency team 7 and IC Tom Clemo, and state this IMT will never have your back. They will always do and say whatever they have to protect their own asses.

This information is public facing, and was pulled from the Incident Action Plans for the bear gulch fire on 08272025.

This is a Fed team on a Fed fire. How exactly is the IMT or IC going to tell Fed law enforcement to fuck off?

Please, tell me how that goes exactly.

You think everyone on a team is a fed? You obviously don’t know shit about fire if you think that, the IC works for Santa Monica FD, too and yes, even a fed can’t go on a fire without a red card.

I’m on a Fed IMT genius. We all work for our respective agencies but when the team goes out you’re working for the Feds, managing a Fed incident on Fed land.

Again, what do you think the IC should do? Tell the Feds to get off their own fire?

Does local PD have a “red card” when they drive the neighborhoods working on evacs? A red card just sets the quals for someone to work a wildland position. It has nothing to do with law enforcement participating in the line. If it did, we’d never get any kind of assistance with structure protection.

You look like you’re a newbie with CalFire. In time you’ll realize law enforcement is typically part of the AHJ and does whatever they want.

Honestly, it sounds like you’re the one who has no clue how it works. lol

UPDATE: and then the ultimate loser move, blocking me hahahah

Ya, sure you are buddy lol. Also not reading all of that and an IC can absolutely tell someone to fuck off.

Oh man, you are green aren’t you? No Fed IMT IC is telling a Fed law enforcement branch to “fuck off.” You’re pretty bold with those two years of CalFire experience bro.

You should have read all of /u/fender1878 post because he’s absolutely right and you have no clue what you’re talking about.

Is it true you blocked him like a coward? You’ll fit in just fine at CalFire 😂
