General Discussion Border Patrol agents arrested firefighters fighting Washington wildfire after they asked the fire crew to line up to check their IDs.

What do we all think of this? Seems pretty nuts to me. They are actively getting in the way of wildlands guys as they do their job out there. I dont think this should be allowed or encouraged. Firefighting is a lot more important than .... risking 20 guys dressed exactly like firefighters crossing the Canadian border?

... when did that start? They're so deperste they offer 50k signing bonuses and paying off college tuitions. It definitely ain't hard or lengthy to get hired by the border patrol 💀

There is a hiring bonus to attract qualified people, and they only get it if they get hired and make it though probation. Still takes most people a year to get hired and most fail out during the process or the academy.

Still not Border Patrol, that’s ICE ERO wearing masks (same ones you probably told everyone to wear in 2020). If you’re gonna take a jab at least know enough to understand what you are talking about. Also a pretty bold assertion since the biggest danger and leading cause of hose dragger deaths is heart attack.

They felt the effects of inflation during Biden’s term even though it was caused by the amount of money injected into the market and given to businesses by the Trump admin. during COVID. They used Biden’s immigration policy as a scapegoat which is what led us to where we are now… Hard working patriots trying to manage a wildfire, getting swooped up by the gestapo.

Took one look at this and it’s pretty evident that you’re a total fucking kook. Entry fitness test for the border patrol includes a 1.5 mile “run” in 13 mins or less, a 220 yard sprint, and an “obstacle course”. Shit, I could crawl through all of those events and still beat out you and probably 98% of you rubes.

Feel free to check the BPA applicant Reddit (since people like you probably get your info and “news” from Reddit anyway. It is continuous hiring and bonuses, for those who actually make it through the process.

Being desperate doesn’t mean lower standards. Arguably they’re hurting for people because they won’t lower standards. Don’t hate the agents who have been doing the job for every administration. Blame the politicians if you don’t like the way things are right now.

Not anymore. They hired Dean Cain, have cut the academy by 5-10 weeks in Georgia.

Completely untrue. Academy is 5 months in New Mexico.

Edit: Being downvoted for something that is easily verifiable shows the blind bias of Reddit and the people arguing. This statement is not an opinion, it is an objective fact that the U.S. Border Patrol academy is in Artesia, NM and this post is being downvoted.

The article says Border Patrol, and it looks like a BP Vest. Regardless, my statement is for U.S. Border Patrol, which is very different than ICE.

You seem to think there is an intelligence requirement for enforcement, usually it's the opposite. Intelligence ceiling is the only way to get hired as enforcement for front line positions. They need to understand your how's and why and dumb guys are by far the easiest to understand.

It cracks me up the lack of knowledge that people know about police. Look I love hating on cops as much as the next guy but I can't stand for straight up ignorance. Most police departments are shockingly hard to get into and Federal level police is even harder.
