General Discussion Border Patrol agents arrested firefighters fighting Washington wildfire after they asked the fire crew to line up to check their IDs.

What do we all think of this? Seems pretty nuts to me. They are actively getting in the way of wildlands guys as they do their job out there. I dont think this should be allowed or encouraged. Firefighting is a lot more important than .... risking 20 guys dressed exactly like firefighters crossing the Canadian border?

There is a hiring bonus to attract qualified people, and they only get it if they get hired and make it though probation. Still takes most people a year to get hired and most fail out during the process or the academy.

Feel free to check the BPA applicant Reddit (since people like you probably get your info and “news” from Reddit anyway. It is continuous hiring and bonuses, for those who actually make it through the process.

Being desperate doesn’t mean lower standards. Arguably they’re hurting for people because they won’t lower standards. Don’t hate the agents who have been doing the job for every administration. Blame the politicians if you don’t like the way things are right now.
