General Discussion Border Patrol agents arrested firefighters fighting Washington wildfire after they asked the fire crew to line up to check their IDs.

What do we all think of this? Seems pretty nuts to me. They are actively getting in the way of wildlands guys as they do their job out there. I dont think this should be allowed or encouraged. Firefighting is a lot more important than .... risking 20 guys dressed exactly like firefighters crossing the Canadian border?

ICE always going after the hard-workers and people try to do things legally. Weird. Maybe they should try actually going after real criminals? Oh wait, there are less immigrant criminals than native-born criminals, so they have to make stuff up.

The two detained were illegal and already ordered to leave the country.

Yeah, don't really care. It's the principle of going after fire fighters or "easy targets" first that ticks me off. They were here working hard, helping out a country that would never return the favor. Call me crazy, but isn't people wanting a better life for themselves and their families one of the reasons why the USA exists in the first place?

There are extremely easy methods to do so legally.

Also they were private contractors. Not actual firefighters.

There are ‘extremely easy’ methods to immigrate to the US legally? Is that actually what you’re saying?

Are you talking about some special method for firefighters or in general?

My girlfriend's entire family is 1st gen Mexican. Yes,it is extremely easy to enter the U.S legally, especially from Canada or Mexico. Beyond this, nobody is entitled to live on someone else's country

Ok? I’m a legal immigrant too, but that doesn’t mean coming here as a legal immigrant is easy… and I’m guessing no companies would sponsor people to come and be firefighters
