General Discussion Japanese Firefighters - Probation?

Hello! I myself am Not a Firefighter, but am Curious about it. Although I was born and raised in Canada, I'm curious about other countries Firefighting. So, my question is for Japanese Firefighters -

How long did your probation period last, if you had one?

Serious calls? 😂 my first day out of the academy I had 2 cardiac arrests, 1 overdose and my first structure fire. 1st in engine, fought the red devil himself day 1. Total of 12 calls that day. Buddy there’s no serious calls. You’re in this shit day 1.

Nah you’re good it just sounded like either you weren’t actually a firefighter, or maybe a kid about to join and wondering something

Cause if United States you have volley departments but then you have career departments. For career you typical have an academy lasting either a few weeks to 6-12 months. Like my academy was 7 months. There is where we did 10 weeks EMS. We quizzed each chapter and tested every Monday over 4-8 chapters we got through that week. Once book was done we honed in on skills for our state skills test. Then we studied our asses off for NREMT. During that time also getting used to med bags and our medical protocols and such. Tested out and whoever failed had two more attempts and if not they were dropped. (Was like that for every test we had) then we moved to HAZMAT for 4 weeks. Where we tested hazmat operations and awareness levels at the end. Then we moved into fire. We did book in the mornings (death by PowerPoint) then afternoon we went and geared up and performed each skill. Tested out then last two weeks we did driver/operator and pumper and then tested out on those. Graduated and second we came out to the engine houses you are lead medic. Expected to be the first to talk to the patient, figure out what’s wrong and provide care. They won’t let you hurt someone and they won’t let you look stupid unless they see you not showing initiative.
