Gas fireplace insert question
I am looking to install a gas fireplace insert. I went to a local retailer and looked at their options specifically heat and glow. The price is range anywhere from $2000-$5000. I was wondering if going to Home Depot or Lowe’s would be more cost-effective versus the higher quality of fireplace sold from a retailer. What do you guys think?

The only thing HD sells is unvented gas fireplaces, which I would not recommend for a variety of reasons, but at least one of those reasons would be the poor quality of the product.
You will also get no help for installation, no service, and any problems will be dealt with by calling a 1-800 number.

That's cheap. We sell and install inserts for $7k-9k. It all depends on what quality you are fine with having.

find a dealer that sells majestic fireplaces, decent and less pricey than HnG. BTW - installation is a really detailed DIY job, dont recommend unless you really know what you are doing v. just have false confidence you can do it correctly.

I've worked on gas fireplaces for over 25 years. There are some very convincing looking electric options.

You get what you pay for. HnG make a fireplace insert in the USA that has better technology, efficiency and support than you'll find with a big box store. After sales support, if needed, will be through an authorised dealer network, who are in turn supported by factory trained technicians.
