What happened to next game
What happened to this studios next game? I've been excited for it since they teased it. Last thing I remember was that the studio banned pewdiepie from playing their next game on his channel for saying the n-word and it still isn't out.
The man went and started a family by the time the next game came out, we even got gta 6 before their next game even, like come on.

Campo Santo is no more. I don’t know why their next game is still listed as coming soon on Steam. It’s not coming.

But the steam page for the game is still up, and it says coming 2029. I thought it was maybe just a placeholder date.

Bro you habe a weird fixation on pewdiepie. He has absolutely nothing to do with what happened to the studio. You think valve heard they banned him and went "oh they banned pewdiepie? Well now we gotta stop them from making the next game!" Like seriously?
I get pewdiepie might be famous in some circles but I've never really heard about him other than his name. No game that was as successful as Firewatch would ever be threatened by something like that. One streamer doesn't have that much power lol

I really enjoyed playing Firewatch, and I can’t wait for this studio’s next games to come out. I’m truly excited for their future releases!

Bro I'm sorry to say this but.... They'll never release another game because the studio was shut down by pewdiepie. So there won't be coming out more games. Sorry my man.

I just checked and it seems only the 2 founders of campo that still work at valve while the rest of the studio is not there anymore.
Pewdiepie 1
Campo employees that banned pewdiepie like it mattered 0

Why you making this about pewdiepie, it's not like the studio dissolved because of him 💀

Nah I know it was just funny how they handled it purely to media farm only for the game to never release.

Firewatch was very successful. They didn't need media farming. Arguably it would have been a bigger benefit if Pewdiepie had played the game. He just f'ed up.

Were not talking about firewatch. They wanted to ban him from this game that's coming up but got cancelled. The only reason I know about firewatch is because of pewdiepie on his playthroughs. And probably many others too. And then they tried to take the morale high ground afterwards even though he helped them alot with their game. Saying he's banned from playing it on his channel, silly as they were. They have the right to do it of course it's their game and they don't have to condone what he did. But publicly banning him from all their future games was objectively silly.

I am aware of that. I am saying Firewatch was such a success that they didn't need media farming for a future game. I feel like you're just a very big pewdiepie fan. I haven't seen a single pewdiepie video in my entire life. There are countless other youtubers that played Firewatch and spread the word. And even if he was a huge help for Firewatch, it doesn't mean he's excused from negative behaviour. Gotta live with the consequences.

"bandwagon" eh, according to that logic firewatch studio went on the attack pewdiepie bandwagon? And it wasnt silly of them to ban him, it was silly of them to exclaim it to the world since everybody and their mother seemed to flood to the Internet asking campo santo what their thoughts were on the matter. And what conclusive racist bullshit did felix keep doing, because if he kept saying racist shit, he'd be a racist right. Would you then say pewdiepie is a racist? He can't be a little racist or alot racist he's either a racist or not.
All of this doesn't really matter, still. I know this is the firewatch subreddit and there will be people that jump in to protect them as if firewatch will cease to exist if they don't. But still as I said to the other person, it's not about pewdiepie, it's not about campo Santo. It's about how comical the irony of campo Santo saying "don't play our next games" and then proceeded to never release another game again.
I brought pewdiepie up but not for the reasons you're here arguing with me about which I made clear. So I don't know why you're on here trying to win points arguing over something no one's arguing against.

They didn't do it to media farm, they did it because Pewdiepie said the n word. One of the founders of Campo Santo is married to a black woman and does not enjoy his game being associated with racists.

He banned him for his wife's sake but he made it public to media farm.

Campo santo the company filed a dmca take down and pewdiepie made it public. I literally found this out in 30 minutes. If anyone was media farming it was pewdiepie lmao. I played this game in June 2016 and fell in love with the story and the ideas Campo santo had. They had a great fan base on tumblr and the only reason they started getting hate and negative reviews was after pewdiepie decided his losing revenue from the dmca take down was unjust and wanted to hurt them.
The ban is valid and you should really know when to quit.

It took you 30 minutes to be misinformed while it can take you 5 more minutes to actually find the right information of what happened. The thing here is that this is the firewatch subreddit so people will just read your comment and think "that's right!!" just because it aligns with their own opinions.
Now if we're going to talk about what really happened then it's that after the incident. The Co founder of campo Santo Sean vanaman made it public that he would file a dmca against pewdiepie and he did also afterwards.
which can be found in a public tweet Sean made on his own twitter that is now removed after the backlash that he got. This subreddit copy pasted his official tweet and talked about it.
Here's a link where they still have a picture of his original tweet where he has a meltdown over the pewdiepie incident. https://www.techdirt.com/2017/09/11/it-doesnt-matter-how-much-asshole-you-think-someone-is-thats-no-excuse-to-dmca/
Pewdiepie didn't criric them for banning him from their games he talked about this because Sean vanaman went after pewdiepies career. He went to talk to bigger devs to also ban him from their games, he talked to YouTube trying to make them ban him. He criticed them for trying to blacklist him everywhere.
Pewdiepie talked about it to show flaws in the system where devs could easily copystrike smaller youtubers at any time when they disagree with eachother potentially taking away their livelyhood. Pewdiepie acknowledged what he did towards campo Santo and apologised but there's only so many times you can apologise, he won't just lie down and die for what he did. He took accountability and made sure to do better moving forward.

The game In the Valley of Gods has been suspended or canceled altogether. Since then, the studio behind the very cool Firewatch has been bought by Valve and suffice to say that the directives given by this new parent company have changed the situation.
