As someone who likes to drive fast and to a certain extent knows how to do so (I'd love to try driving a bandage wagon at speed) it's done with the understanding that only one person will die if you fuck up.
Another thing, she's likely not a first responder firefighter in this scenario. She likely drove there at speed for nothing.

About 25 years ago we had an incident in hour town that killed a fire fighter. There was a choking child call. Six fireman were at an event together and responded directly to the address in a mini van. A volunteer EMT was responding in her vehicle to the ambulance garage to get the unit to respond. They met at an intersection and one of the fireman was killed. The EMT was hung out to dry. She lost her cert and was criminally prosecuted because she had a stop sign.

Sure? However existing does not cost money. She’s not deducting money by doing this the same as a paid employee. The fire fighters in my town regularly do appearances at kids birthday parties when not on a call. That’s on technically county time too. This is just a bored volunteer.
I have zero expectations for people volunteering their time for free to be productive 100% of the time. They’re literally free labor.

Please never volunteer for anything. Most volunteer work is for people in need and they deserve 100% effort, if you can't do that, don't volunteer. It's the intentions that matter more than the pay (or lack of, seeing as it's volunteer).

A decade ago, I was given the great responsibility of quartermastering and paperworking the new hires at my all-volley station in a small town.
Most of the new recruits didn't even finish finding gear that fit before they were taking their Facebook selfies. Half of them didn't last a year on the department. One guy started talking about getting the station logo tattooed on himself 3 months in.
Idk about her state but we're allowed 10mph over the posted limit. Only if we're in a registered emergency vehicle. Are we doing 15-20 over sometimes? Maybe. However when responding in a POV, all traffic laws apply. The lights mean almost nothing and you'll likely be at fault for any collision.
Ive been pulled over in a ambulance twice. Once was deserved. i bottomed the suspension out going over a RR crossing. I might have accelerated a little bit and essentially Bo duked it right in front of a cop. Anyway my point is you can't absolutely get pulled over, especially in a personal vehicle. Stop being dumb. You're making usball look dumb.
Yeah, definitely looks dumb. She is bragging about her carelessness and disregard for the law. I looked it up and in my state emergency responders are authorized to drive 10 mph over the posted.

Fun fact: I’m from the south and spent most of my summers on my grandpappy’s farm in rural southwest VA. I was 10 or 11 years old when I finally saw “barbed wire” in print. I really did think it was “bobwire.” Ha!

Well, her's is obviously a more intricate version of it but, yeah, it is/does. If you're on a phone and can't zoom in or something, yeah, I'd understand where you're coming from but I'm on a PC with a monitor and I looked because I didn't wanna believe in Nazi firewomen.
In my department you'd lose your POV response privileges and probably your blue light permit for claiming to drive like that and if it was proven or in a department vehicle going 100 you'd catch a 30 day vacation at a minimum. Also nobody cares if you wanna goof around in bunker gear, but if that's been in a fire it's a high carcinogen risk so at the very least you could respect your fellow firefighters enough to take it outside. The volunteer fire service is a vital lifeblood in large swaths of America and it's really struggling to recruit and retain membership so please do better to be a responsible ambassador for our community and a more responsible steward of your and your company's health and safety.

Those are folks that I've watched break down during a post-incident debrief while recounting the experience of arriving on scene to find members of their community burned to death, ( or burning alive).

The highway speed limit in Wyoming (and much of the less populated West) was already 80mph and then everyone was passing me going 90-95mph. She is only driving 5mph faster than all the locals.
Oh no an emergency responder responded like its an emergency then got screwed over by the system designed to keep them on the move so there was no need to respond like an emergency. Therefore its justified to bitch and moan about how fast they drove 🙄
There are many small communities in the US that have neither the tax base nor the call volume to support a full time department. Lots of rural areas rely on volunteers to respond to emergencies.
That’s not how it works in many areas. There is a tax district formed to pay for the department and its expenses. The people have to power to choose how much to pay. Many communities don’t want to shell out the money it would take to pay for a full time department when the call volume is low.
She's admitted to speeding. Fine let's say realistically doing 80mph, whatever. Her point being "I'm driving like a bat outta hell just to be on standby".

In ALL of her comments she never once said "Guys I was just exaggerating, obviously it's bad to go above the speed limit. I don't actually do it, it was just for the TikTok dance".
