Woah, neat man! Whats even the process for something like this?

Thank you! The wrap is thread wrapped in a pattern around the blank. The handles and grip slide on over the blank and then everything is sealed with epoxy

Does it end up being cheaper than buying an actual rod?

That’s hard to say exactly but kind of. For example I already had the epoxy equipment so that wasn’t an added cost for me. The materials were roughly $80 and without the decorative wrap it was probably about 2h worth of work and I’d say the quality feels close to a $150-200 retail rod if that helps

So after making a few rods you probably have made your money back. Well a hobby too expensive atm for me haha. But this is awesome , thanks for sharing :)

Thank you! I already have several others I want to do now ha. Gotta work on my cross wrap skills though they’re not easy!

Nice ideas. The next one will be even better. The only possible functional issue is having the hook latch that far forward on a spinning rod. Depending on the line used, it can come off the spool during the cast making loops that slap the blank and get caught on the latch. I made the same mistake on one of my first rods a long time ago.
