Closing Tokyo Fried Chicken closing, last day August 10
from their instagram
This Sunday, August 10 will be our last day of service.
We secured this space in 2019 with big hopes for location #2— dreaming it would be the first step in growing our brand but building through the pandemic and everything that followed brought challenges we never could’ve predicted. At this time, in this location, we’ve realized: it’s time to pivot.
To everyone who’s supported us — your visits, your kind words, your love for what we do — thank you. You’ve meant the world to our small team.
We hope this isn’t goodbye forever — just farewell for now. 💛
With love, All of us at Tokyo Fried Chicken

I thought it was ballsy to close the original for the dtla location

They wanted to keep the original location. Damage they were dealing with was extensive and the landlord was uncooperative.

I like the chicken and I truly enjoyed at least five of their sides.
I really do think that in a less expensive area they would have thrived.

Been supporting since the original location first opened. Going to miss that spicy ponzu drizzled over the fried chicken and rice.
Ordering Sunday for a final farewell <3

Always liked them. Come back to Monterey Park! And bring back the battered potato chips!

I didn’t even know they had a location in dtla
The mpk spot would be packed but cozy. Small but also homey.
Sad news… interesting management…

Nooooooooooooo! This downtown unit was a horrible location. Take it back to the MPK days. Hope they can find something and continue somewhere down the road.

Aw damn, I hope they're able to find a spot that works better for them soon.

Tried to go one last time but their online ordering is down and they don’t answer the phone, who has enough free time to go somewhere place an order and wait lol

DTLA spot was more "modern", but the distance and the risk of getting carjacked was too high there. I wish they hadn't closed the Monterey Park location.

They’re worth it. Have a unique niche in the fried chicken market but the DTLA location was terrible. Hard to park. Kinda on the outskirts of where everything is happening. Just not a great location unfortunately

Earlier this year, right around the time social media remembered the owner was a weirdo MAGA guy & the Eaton Fire happened, they had a mysterious fire and shuttered.
