and I am proud. there’s just something so cool about him. I’m not sure what it is, but Aaron May is probably one of my favorite Food Network personalities.

From the Food Network website:
Episode 1807
The final three teams have no idea that host Tyler Florence is evaluating their food truck workflow in a secret surveillance challenge in Newport News, Va. He shuts the loser down for an hour, but his penalty comes with a silver lining. The top two teams both blow challenges they could have easily won, and one truck sets an all-time sales record.
We're down to three. I admit, I wouldn't mind seeing Que go home this episode. (not just for the screaming) but their food is the least interesting to me out of the three trucks left.

Watching the newest season of GGG on Max and I just gotta say, I really love Demaris. She is the perfect mix of fun and competitive. I feel like she is underappreciated as a chef and a lot of what she makes honestly looks amazing. She just always happens to go up against find that are much more competitive and cutthroat than she is. I find myself always rooting for her and it always seems close. I really hope she pulls out a win on one of the bigger competitions.

I was so delighted and surprised to see that Maneet finally has a cooking show. Just watched the first episode on streaming, and she gives such wonderful instructions. Give me more shows like this and Jet's!

SPOILER FOR GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE SEASON 6
I know I’m a little behind the curve, but I just watched season 6, and I’m just… confused. No shade to Pho-Nomenal, clearly they’re a great team. However, every other time a team has had an issue with their truck that was within their control. they’ve had to figure it out on their own. For example, one truck blew a tire in a previous season, and the team had to pay for the tow and repair. Pho-Nomenal’s truck, which they brought themselves (vs. seasons 3, 4, and 5 when the show provided the teams with a truck), broke down in episode 1. All we heard was that they rented another truck in order to keep competing. Did they pay for that rental out of pocket? Did it come out of their till? How did they get it wrapped so quickly? It’s strange to me that we never discussed the impact that this breakdown had on their bottom line. Again, no disrespect to them, I’m just confused as to how they kept competing with apparently no negative impact, and if there really was no impact, was it really a fair competition?

So I remember when competition shows would have chefs like Bobby flay, Michael Simon, Amanda Freitag, they would be fighting for a charity. So multiple questions: A) did they actually donate to charities in the first place? I assume they did. And B) do they do that now? I’ve noticed every competition show (most not all) it’s the same rotation of chefs, usually all of them have been in TOC or have been around a while on FN. Some have judged other shows as well. And there is now always a monetary prize. If they don’t then what happened? Why aren’t they doing the competition for charities anymore?
Just my observation and hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me. I’m genuinely curious. ETA: I’m not saying they shouldn’t be winning prize money at all! They have families and businesses to support too. Thanks for all the good insight 😁

This relationship still seems weird to me. Can‘t really explain why.

Okay I slightly played off the Coldplay thingo in the title but it really does seem like Bobby is telling her “you know the camera panned to us when you did that, right?”

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and I love all the shows that Food Network has about it. BUT, I miss when the Halloween Baking Championship was more family friendly. My kids love baking shows and early seasons embraced cute-ish and scary Halloween, but the last seasons have been based on scary and even gory. Food Network is lacking kid friendly Halloween baking shows and it seems like a missed opportunity.

I am watching the DDD vegans episode, one cheftestant has a restaurant, el grifo in puerto rico..
Its the first time i saw a contestant coming from so far away (i mustve missed the mexico episode), how does that work logistically? does ggg pay for flight tickets cause its a 15h flight for puerto rico to california or does all the exposure chefs get via DDD makes them feel indebted to guy so they dont mind?

I just finished watching the tournament and is it just me or was it really hard to watch? Usually judges tournaments they take it seriously but there’s at least a little fun. I just felt like everyone was SO anxious and not silly at all. I’m not sure if it was because the prize was so large or what is was, but I was just curious if anyone felt the same.

I loved the GGG best buddies episode so much٫ it was so sweet and everyone was so kind to each other and didn't infantilize the competing chefs. I loved it.

Genuinely…who green lit this season? I’ve been on like a semi-binge of GFTR, mainly just having it on in the background when I’m working from home or doing stuff around the house. I’m at Season 13 right now, the Alaskan season. Seriously, I cannot think of a more bonkers premise for a GFTR season. Listen, I’ve been to Alaska, had family who lived there for a bit, and have visited in the winter. It literally blows my mind that Food Network gave the okay for Alaska as the base for season 13.
Alaska in the middle of winter. Most episodes when teams are selling, it’s pitch black outside because of how early the sun sets in Alaska winter. Teams constantly bringing up the price of things while shopping; Alaska notoriously has very high prices for groceries compared to mainland America. Not only do they not stay in the "major" cities in Alaska — they venture out into their even smaller towns. The teams are doing great doing what they can reaching out to in-town businesses and finding crowds that way, but sheesh Alaska is already scarcely populated as is so I can’t imagine how difficult it was to really find those crowds. Also - weather. Multiple episodes this season have teams mentioning the freezing weather, rain, snow, etc. Literally why did they do this in the height of winter.
This entire season just feels like Great Food Truck race on ultimate hard mode, lmao.

Why is she there but to add to the contrived studio/bar setting? The Bobby Flay shows are so overproduced with the fake engagement and the unnecessary angst about how everyone there wants Flay to lose.
Also, did she have some kind of facial injury? Looks like her face is caved in.

So, I always believed it was pronounced "vin-uh-gret."
But on the Food Network they always say "vinegar-ette."
I'm not seeing the full word "vinegar" in "vinaigrette" so why is it being pronounced that way? Am I appallingly unsophisticated for even asking???

Every episode is structured the same. They always have the person who loses the first round say something to the camera before they announce the winner of the first around. The loser always seems to say something like “I should’ve done this differently.” Or “I think we’re evenly matched.” And then they go home.
Also Bobby always wins. The judges know which dish is Bobby’s, he always uses some kind of chili. He wins more than he loses even when it makes no sense. The judges could praise the competitor’s dish and say something about Bobby’s dish is off and he’ll still win.
The judging isn’t actually blind either. Sometimes Bobby and the competitor don’t have poker face. They’ll react to a judges comment and the judge can see that reaction. A truly blind judging would put the judges in a separate room.
I feel like the show used to be fun but now after so many seasons it’s worn down.
