Amen to that. And all those garbage AI generated “news” can go to hell too. YouTube has become plagued with it.

And unfortunately, it's far too late. So much damage has been done

This won’t be back next election cycle for sure.

YouTube fixed the problem forever.

Firstly YouTube is a private platform, not giving a platform to somebody is not the same as the restriction of free speech. They are not imprisoning the YouTubers. Secondly let's say we should give them a platform, is the west given a platform in Russia and china? That's a one way battle. Art of war: every nation has idiots, never let your enemy get to your idiots.

your free speech rights only apply to the government, not corporations.

Laughs in MAGA. What was it now, who ate the dogs? Covid was a hoax? Obama wasn't born in the US? Trump won the popular vote? Al crazy, blatant lies. Laughing so hard, I am farting in QNAN now.

People clearly aren't smart and educated. Your comment is a point in case. Further, YouTube can platform anyone they want, just like Musk. Free speech doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want on whatever platform you want.

And, because this part annoys me more than just about any stupid "free speech" trope on the right, free speech is about what the government can and can't do. We don't actually have a right to say whatever we want whenever and wherever we want to say stupid, racist things. We can be held responsible for saying hateful and untrue things by our fellow citizens and by the law. We have libel and slander laws because you can't say whatever you want if it's untrue when it's about a person. We used to have laws about lying to people, too, but the Fairness Doctrine was repealed during Reagan's administration. Hence, Fox News "entertainment" media empire that lies about everything on the daily.

Free speech is when you're allowed to criticize the government without repercussions from the government. Trump is currently destroying the first amendment freedoms, but I digress.

Basically, YouTube has the right to remove content related to its business. If you don't like that, reestablish the Fairness Doctrine. The Radical Right will never do that because Fox News and other extreme right platforms would be out of business.

Free speech just means the government won't arrest you for saying stuff.

You think you can't run a website of your own and kick off anyone you don't like? Like Elon does?

Nope, they are still free to make and distribute content.

They aren't entitled to use someone else's platform to do it. They can find another platform or build their own website.

If all people were smart and educated, we wouldn't have ended up stuck with Trump twice due to brainless and uneducated Fox-watching morons who were gullible enough to fall for every single one of Trump's 30k-plus lies. That lie total is from his first term alone incidentally.
