Bonjour Toute le Monde - I'd be grateful if anyone has any suggestions.
I already have crave TV and really enjoyed Bellefleur and Empathie.
But now I'm struggling to find more shows to watch without Netflix.
I have a VPN so I'm not country dependent and I don't mind paying for something that works.
Merci pour votre aide.

"Inspirez Expirez" is a fun little murder mystery comedy on Crave, and I remember it having English subtitles (but don't quote me on that).

Lmao sounds like bizarro r/CraveTV where a lot of the time they only have the French dubbed versions of movies 😂😂😂
CraveTV is paired with HBO in Canada. Check out any Canadian version of streaming services in general if you can do so through VPN. There might be some stuff on CBC Gem, I have no idea if you can access it internationally.

Yeah actually I'm very picky about dubs - I don't do them in any language. Something about them irritate me. It's a fake voice and the lips don't match the speech. Lol. My wife's second language is English and she prefers dubs, she grew up with them and whenever we watch a foreign language show or film (which is often) we used to argue... It's one of the few hills I will die on. We have finally agreed on subtitles. One of the few arguments I've won over the years. Lol

Fun fact: the English dub of Das Boot is considered one of the best ever because every actor did their own because they all spoke English! (except for one IIRC)

Hey OP, there is probably some content available on CBC Gem and there is for sure French content but with french subs on ici.tou.tv - though if you're learning French - I'd suggest ditching English subs and just using French subs to learn how words are pronounced and used. I believe there are several studies that show that learning a language with English subs (if English is your native language) is very ineffective. You'll understand a lot more than you think you will.
Otherwise, if you have a VPN, France.tv is free and has good stuff. Just make up a fake French address, I think I put mine as Versailles (the palace) from google maps. ARDTV is a Franco-German broadcaster that might have good stuff.
I'd also suggest Télé Québec, noovo, etc. See if your local library (or uni library if you're a student) has hoopla or kanopy as they'll have French language movies and TV shows.
As an aside, I'd very much agree that finding French content on Netflix is a pain. It exists, but it's so poorly organized.
