Imagine donating money or subs to a millionaire.

143

u/Immediate_Song4279 3d ago

I dont really think its any less weird that donating money to millionaires running in tights grabbing balls. And then, get this, after they are done with the career of ball grabbing they talk, and people give them more money for it.

22

u/2muchicescream 3d ago

Ayayayyayayayaayyahaahy

42

u/midnightluckey 3d ago

That.. took me a second.. but yeah. It’s exactly like valuing a celebrities opinion on politics. You sang a catchy song or acted in a fun popular movie and suddenly you think you can actually tell people how to vote?

10

u/heckin_miraculous 3d ago

Thank God you connected it to sports, I was totally lost. But still, who's donating their savings to pro athletes?

16

u/randomways 3d ago

People who buy $500 stadium tickets with $20 beer and hotdogs

10

u/EagleBeagle8085 3d ago

I don't think you understand what donating is.

5

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

I dont think you understand what purchasing is. Because watching a porn lady and watching a sweaty ball fondler is the same purchase.

3

u/heckin_miraculous 2d ago

Yeah but... The meme in OP wasn't about paying to watch a porn show. That would still be different than paying for a sports game but I could see the analogy and grant you have a point there.

No, the meme here is about men getting so wrapped up in a parasocial relationship that their desire for intimacy leads them to do things that are not only pitiful in terms of the interpersonal dynamic, but are also financially ruinous. That's very different than paying to watch porn and it's even more different than buying a ticket to a sports game, even an overpriced ticket.

Finally, I'll add that I'm quite surprised by the attitude that equates having a private, porn-based relationship with being a sports fan. I suspect this gets talked about regularly among people who participate in OF etc, as a sort of rationalization/normalization?

2

u/EagleBeagle8085 2d ago edited 2d ago

No it's not lol.  Not even close.  One is on a screen the other is in real life.  Do you have trouble telling the difference?  You might want to get checked for mental disabilities.

And if it's on a public streaming site like Twitch you don't even need to pay to watch egirls lmao.  So sending money is a donation, bc you don't get anything extra in return.

3

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

Everyone who buys a hat for more than $5, a jersey for more than $15. Tickets for more than $5. Pay perview. Parking at a stadium. More than $3 for a hotdog or $4 for a budweiser.

Your $600 sports event or $100 bar bill pays the way up to franchise owners and athletes. Millionaires and billionaires.

Its for suckers.

1

u/heckin_miraculous 2d ago

I get your point but it's not nearly the same as the meme we're talking about.

1

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

I mean its a good platform and super important. Just leave those sports knuckledraggers out of it.

20

u/Toasted_Munch 3d ago

Agreed. A paramedic can save multiple lives per day while qualifying for government assistance in some states. But a literal moron with incredible physical capabilities in one sport can make enough money to support the next 5 generations of his family. Yet, back to that moron part, 60% of NBA and 78% of NFL players are bankrupt usually no more than 3 or 4 years after retirement.

10

u/BruinBound22 3d ago edited 3d ago

That moron ball grabber is the top .000001%. Is this the top .00000001% paramedic? What's the competition like to become a paramedic, have kids been devoting 6-8 hours a day for 15 years just to get an entry level paramedic role then being cut after one year?

The fact so many of these guys become bankrupt makes you... Hate them more? You do understand the 70% that become bankrupt did not make enough money to support their next 5 generations right? They likely were in the league a year or two on a rookie min, and will never get any additional money from the sport they devoted their life to.

If you knew how much money sports made, then you would be defending the athletes over what the owners take. Did you know how much revenue college sports brought in, and athletes weren't paid any of it up until a few years ago. The problem is that paramedics are underpaid, yes. But shooting down another profession because you don't understand why it brings in revenue is fucking idiotic.

3

u/Immediate_Song4279 3d ago

This one is salty about the balls.

-4

u/Toasted_Munch 3d ago

Sorry honey, I didn't realize you were such a fan that this would be a sensitive subject for you. I understand that you feel performing well on the field or court is far more important than the paramedic role. Entertainment is much more valuable than silly ol' life-saving measures. And yeah, a lot of people could be a paramedic. Just like anyone can throw a ball. Some are good, some are bad. You know, like any occupation. If a teacher made a huge impact in students' lives, where no one else did, would you feel they deserve additional compensation? My feeling is a teacher who changes lives and gives direction, and first responders who actually save lives shouldn't have to struggle to make ends meet whereas someone good at a sport lives like a god.

1

u/YouHaveToTryTheSoup 3d ago

Not a single person is implying that an athlete is more important than a paramedic. Literally everyone agrees with your last point. You’re arguing against things no one even said. Idk why you’re putting them against each other like it’s the athletes fault the teacher isn’t getting paid. It’s not even a fair comparison. The average athlete makes less than the average doctor. You’re comparing the salaries of an average doctor to a top 0.00001% athlete.

-4

u/Toasted_Munch 3d ago

The average NFL player makes 3.2 million dollars. The league minimum is 860,000 dollars. Click here if you want proof.

The average US physician takes home 374,000 dollars. Again, proof.

So no, I'm not comparing a doctor in rural Indiana to Josh Allen. The point I'm making is that people who actually save and change lives get peanuts while our entertainment makes absurd amounts of money. I never said I hate the athletes. I never said they shouldn't be paid well. But its factual that most piss all their money away. Idk why you guys are so friggin defensive over this.

4

u/BruinBound22 3d ago

Median NFL salary is 800k to 1mil (pretty close to league min huh)?, that's what you need to use for these comparisons. The fact you missed that is pretty consistent with the point you've been missing.

1

u/collax974 2d ago

The average NFL player is already a top 0.1% of his sport. You are forgetting all the others lower leagues where they mostly all make peanuts.

-2

u/YouHaveToTryTheSoup 3d ago

Actually you still are. The data is correct but the problem lies higher; The average NFL player is not the average football player. They’re the best of the best. You’re forgetting all of the other football ball players who make almost nothing. The average physician does in fact make more than the average athlete.

3

u/Toasted_Munch 3d ago

Average NFL player in the Unite States of America has a salary of 800k+

Average physician in the United States of America has a salary of roughly 375k.

I don't think people who work in entertainment should make more money than doctors, police, firefighters, ems, teachers.

Thats it. Not sure the average athlete you're referring to, and at this point, I don't care. Average atheletes that are good in high school or college are working professionally as something else because that avenue didn't pan out.

3

u/Klimpomp1 3d ago

Why the fuck is everyone dogpiling on you for this take the entire way through?

What's weirder is they keep saying things like "yes I agree with your broader point but you're wrong about X small aspect of Y sport so fuck you"

Boss is saying we shouldn't suck off runny kicky boys while making LITERAL FUCKING LIFESAVERS starve. I think that's fair.

1

u/yoyoma014 3d ago

I’m not going to argue that they’re more important than a doctor (obviously) but you’re ignoring the fact the average career length is 3 years while a doctor can work for 40-50+ if they want to.

And in this particular case, NFL players are destroying their bodies and can have long term health effects. Lots of fields out there that pay more than most jobs due to the health risk involved (e.g oil refineries, coal mines).

1

u/PaintedScottishWoods 3d ago

I played high school basketball. That already made me better than the average basketball player because the average basketball player didn’t even make a high school team.

0

u/EMF84 3d ago

you've got a problem with capitalism, which is fine, I do too for many reasons.

0

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

You love sweaty balls way too much.

1

u/goingpt 3d ago edited 2d ago

This is an absolutely dreadful argument.

For a start, I could wake up tomorrow and decide to be a paramedic. Within 3 years I would be a qualified paramedic. I couldn't wake up tomorrow and decide to be a professional soccer player.

A paramedics wage and an athletes wage comes from two very difference sources of revenue. One of them far exceeds the other.

1

u/NDSU 2d ago

You lack the intellectual capacity to eb a paramedic. There is no amount of time that would let you become a qualified paramedic

1

u/goingpt 2d ago

How could you possibly know that? Besides, you don't have to be intelligent to be a paramedic, you aren't required to have a wealth of knowledge. You need to be able to work well under pressure and follow procedures. It's a noble job for sure, but it's a job that most people with training would be able to do.

Now if you were talking about doctors, that's different. Not everyone can train to be a doctor. They are required to be intelligent which is why they get paid a lot more than nurses and paramedics.

0

u/Kolenga 3d ago

Who is donating to athletes?

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 3d ago

Nobody is donating to E-girls either. Yet when someone reads an article about a player, or watches an ad, or subscribes to a package, or buys a ticket, value is being transferred. The comment and post exaggerated meaning, so I just played by the same rules.

Weird or not, both represent and exchange.

-1

u/Kolenga 3d ago

Aren't they though? As far as I understand people send money to streamers all the time

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 3d ago

Someone with a collection bucket accepts donations. If they are performing for them it becomes a service.

-1

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

And fat middle aged men send money to athletes millions times more.

3

u/Kolenga 2d ago

You mean their employers are paying them their salary?

1

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

You.

1

u/Kolenga 2d ago

That's certainly news to me

1

u/Zayninne 3d ago

Plot twist: The millionaire subscribes back for tax reasons

1

u/Iannantep 3d ago

But bro, how else will they buy their ninth yacht

1

u/IltisSpiderrick 3d ago

I never understood that concept. Plus the moment I see someone setting their channel for "you can only chat if you are subscribed" I'm immediately out.

1

u/totalwarwiser 3d ago

I think its fair if you really enjoy jt and donate like 5 to 10 dollars/month.

-7

u/thwoomfist 3d ago

Imagine buying a $5 coffee everyday from a company worth billions of dollars. Also most streamers are in fact not millionaires. It’s only a problem when people donate too much relative to how much they make.

7

u/Sir_Richard_Dangler 3d ago

At least you get a good coffee out of it. Donating to streamers gets you nothing

3

u/ByIeth 3d ago

Eh I guess they could give you some entertainment. But ya I really don’t see the point myself. I think most of the higher spenders want attention from that person

3

u/InitialCold7669 3d ago

I don't know I think it's more of a vibes-based purchase. To say they get nothing would be a bit disingenuous slightly because they are clearly getting some good feeling out of it or else why would they do it

1

u/Sir_Richard_Dangler 3d ago

Good point. I get a good feeling from donating to charity so I guess it is similar.

1

u/Scary-Lawfulness-999 2d ago

Just like professional sports.

0

u/Garchompisbestboi 3d ago

The difference is that if you don't pay $5 then you don't get your coffee. Donating money to streamers is completely voluntary which makes it a significantly more pathetic thing to do.

192

u/usps_oig 3d ago

Dude will shell out his life savings and she'll refer to him as "one of my fans" LMAO.

29

u/Vennris 3d ago

Deservedly so. Being this stupid doesn't deserve any kind of special attention.

7

u/Ok_Algae6035 3d ago

Bring this up when chicks talk about coercion.

9

u/SellMeYourSirin 3d ago

Sure, if you wanna get laughed out the room. Do this.

2

u/54B3R_ 3d ago

Isn't it coercion to use money/influence to try to get someone to sleep with you.

Is the guy not trying to coerce the egirl in this scenario?

0

u/Temple-Breaker 3d ago

Oh fuck off

1

u/McChava 2d ago

As bad as that is, imagine donating everything to an Evangelical preacher and not even having your name mentioned. These simps get a photo or some bath water at least lol.

1

u/Ur_X 1d ago

Lol so true even my girlfriend would refer to her IG followers as her “fans”

41

u/EconomyLetterhead174 3d ago

Thanks. Now E Girl Jeremy Clarkson will haunt my nightmares

3

u/RappingFlatulence 2d ago

Best looking one yet! 😮‍💨🥵🤤

120

u/Ego-Fiend1 3d ago

It's crazy how girls in America can make as much money as any doctor just for saying "thanks 😘"

74

u/BunBunBubblegum 3d ago

Only pretty girls can

21

u/notworthit212 3d ago

Trisha Paytas makes a good living on the internet so I don't think this is true

-7

u/BunBunBubblegum 3d ago

But she's not ugly?

4

u/MihoLeya 3d ago

In my opinion, she’s extremely ugly. Everyone has a different opinion though. I’m glad everyone has someone who thinks they are beautiful.

-5

u/BunBunBubblegum 3d ago

She's average looking objectively.

3

u/notworthit212 2d ago

Reddit has been really struggling with the meaning of the word, "objectively," lately.

1

u/MihoLeya 2d ago

Do you live in a rural hick town, where everyone is related?

17

u/Garchompisbestboi 3d ago

The ugly ones can just use a cartoon avatar and cutesy voice and basically get the exact same amount of donations.

8

u/BunBunBubblegum 3d ago

Then so can the guys.

1

u/Subotail 2d ago

Alex Jones makes a lot of money and yet is from the Feminine beauty ideal.

1

u/BunBunBubblegum 2d ago

No idea who that is

1

u/cultivatorsgtsnips 16h ago

He is a right wing radio person who claims that the sandy hook massacre was fake and sells silver pills to cure diseases. His skin is also a weird red purple shade.

21

u/ftmaggot 3d ago

In America only? No, this can happen in many western countries. Some Asian ones too.

Girls? Several male streamers make money by committing horrid acts or just being mid at gaming. Or acting like speds and screaming.

6

u/RedWarrior42 3d ago

Don't forget about the Bread tubers that complain about capitalism from their multi-million dollar house

4

u/Sufficient-Ad-7349 3d ago

Eh. That's like saying an auto tune rapper makes more money than a doctor. True, but one field is much bigger in terms of people employed.

1

u/adam_sky 1d ago

It’s not just an American thing, no?

40

u/Smooth_Taste1250 3d ago

If you are dumb enough to do this, your problem. I mean even spend money on a prostitute makes lot more sense and even for this it's not worth for me spending money for

13

u/kwil449 3d ago

I remember one of my favorite streamers getting his first $100 donation. He was freaking out, and was like "Did you accidentally type an extra zero? I can refund that for you." I love how humble he's stayed over the years.

32

u/Krumm34 3d ago edited 3d ago

I laugh everytime I see someone donate alot of money for a 2 seconds "oh thanks to xyz", and they move on. Or when streamer was busy and banks the thankyous and just buzz through them 10 min later

31

u/Sad-Strike5709 3d ago

Remind me of the guy that silent like 30k on OF, saw the model at an airport by chance, and she wanted nothing to do with him.

26

u/chris5701 3d ago

That's cause they think they're entitled to the money but fans aren't entitled to affection

20

u/TheRealMDubbs 3d ago

I imagine if you're an OF model most of your fans are gooners so it's best to stay clear.

6

u/guardwoman12345 3d ago

You kidding me?

I'd start a raffle to see who can win my panties.

These women deserve the backlash

13

u/Alive-Beyond-9686 3d ago

The fucking losers that are throwing their life savings at them deserve the backlash. They are the ones who are literally paying to keep this garbage going.

11

u/redditorstearss 3d ago

No desperate incel giving 30k is entitled.to anything but humiliation

1

u/SparrowTits 1d ago

They certainly aren't entitled to affection - show any sort of affection to a love starved gooner who's prepared to give money to some random pretty e-girl and you have the start of a parasocial disaster

1

u/Sufficient-Ad-7349 3d ago

Yeah but the fans (and girls) are massive losers for thinking they'll get what they need from OF. And i never call people losers. That is just so dysfunctional it's ridiculous.

1

u/Vennris 3d ago

Why are the girls losers? They make a enough money to live very comfortably by doing a very little, and they only exploit delusional idiots who don't deserve any better. That's absolutely winning in my book. If I were a girl, pretty and not ashamed to show my body, I'd 100% do the same.

3

u/VacuumDecay-007 2d ago

30k?! To look at a woman online? What in the actual fuck? Why not just see a high class escort at that point? Like what is even the purpose of this shit?

1

u/snake_case_sucks 18h ago

If some insane person spent 30k on a parasocial relationship and then “coincidentally” saw me at the airport I might just run for my life.

5

u/AdStunning3346 3d ago

All that money gone and she still plays Minecraft on Twitch

5

u/Silveruleaf 3d ago

Something I find curious no one mentions is these are rich beggers. Their profession is resumed to this. Entertain for donations

4

u/therealkami 3d ago

Isn't that what entertainers have always been?

4

u/SoleCuriousSole 3d ago

Dont hate the player hate the game. Nvm hate everything

10

u/Headless_Human 3d ago

What else are they supposed to do?

2

u/Lccjll 3d ago

You know…..😏😏😏😏

9

u/thrownawaz092 3d ago

As they deserve

8

u/viotix90 3d ago

A lot of poor losers do too.

2

u/sycolution 3d ago

TBF, attention should not be viewed as transactional. i.e. just cause you gifted a bunch of subs, doesn't entitle you to her time.

2

u/Ragna_Blade 2d ago

Don't forget the permaban to that user right after.

That's all streamers btw, not just egirls

2

u/nighthunter987 2d ago

They're too many desperate people for love in this world

1

u/BDPBITCH666 1d ago

Lust* they do not seek love, if they did, they donated to wholesome person, not e-girl

2

u/actuallyapossom 3d ago

Every streamer but the small ones really!

I feel like internet personalities are already taking a risk of attracting nut jobs just by having a large audience.

Women are the most at risk, and any affection they communicate to random watchers is upping the risk even more. It is possible someone will take it as confirmation of their parasocial fantasy relationship.

2

u/morpheus_moon 3d ago

1

u/Sculptor_of_man 3d ago

That's what asmongold does it's just no one ever accepts.

1

u/Most_Investigator833 3d ago

Another day and another reason why they have to close Twitch

1

u/amixzaa 3d ago

Haha, the way they act when the donations come in is hilarious, Classic move

1

u/Fickle_Library8115 3d ago

And if she dose OF he’s bankrupt!!

1

u/Eidertron 3d ago

"one of my twitch subs bought me a Tesla"

1

Hahahahhahahahhaa

1

u/ajkc77 3d ago

Funny because its true? Lol

1

u/Marc017_ 3d ago

It's kinda insane to me it's still a thing...

2

u/Vennris 3d ago

Why wouldn't it? The world will never run out of stupid idiots.

1

u/Marc017_ 2d ago

Unfortunately yeah...

1

u/ErinWalkerLoves 3d ago

Are there really simps out there donating their entire life savings? I thought some of them were just a little better off.

2

u/Drag_On66 3d ago

Yes there was an article about some Chinese dude he did it just to get a hey bro, something like that he got arrested

1

u/Difficult_Estate6912 3d ago

And the ugly ones are vtubers. 😂

1

u/Every-Quit524 3d ago

Devs, women are OP please nerf. This meta sucks almost as bad as double shields.

1

u/ConsumeYourBleach 2d ago

I've never donated to any streamer, ever. I refuse to pay my earnings that i worked hard for to someone who doesnt get up until 11 o'clock in the morning and then sits around playing video games.

1

u/Agro46 2d ago

Simps deserve what they get.

1

u/SpaceAdvertiser 1d ago

Giving even 1$ to such people is an absolute aberration

1

u/Bjorn_Blackmane 17h ago

Its like the people who are whales in mobile games. Like dude you spent 50k on a low budget phone game

1

u/GETNbucky 12h ago

Imagine donating money to someone online that makes a living off morons that donate money online?

Society is fucked.

1

u/Time_Blacksmith861 3d ago

Aren’t only the wealthy ones giving them money? Most people are not crazy to give money isn’t that right?

8

u/AdamFarleySpade 3d ago

Very sadly, no. Some people are racking up credit card debt like this.

2

u/Trpepper 3d ago

Sometimes other people’s credit card debt.

1

u/DerpSlurpRawrGheyLol 3d ago

No. There was even a famous case where a guy destroyed his family's finances over a cam girl and then killed his father, mother, and brother when they tried to cut him off.

1

u/Chrowaway6969 3d ago

WTF is an E girl? And why are people giving them money?

0

u/Hot-Bookkeeper69 2d ago

I mean what else are they supposed to do? If some inbred troglodyte wants to give away all his money to some streamer good for them.

0

u/Waiting_for_Exit 3d ago

You can identify the simps from the comment thread.
