Photo I finally camped alone for the first time!

Thanks to the women in this sub for sharing your stories! You gave me the push I needed to get it done. I camped in one of the fields at my sister’s farm in middle Georgia, and while her house was a tenth of a mile away, it still felt like a comfortable start. I’m ready to try a state park next!

We did it!

I felt much more relaxed and peaceful than I thought I would. I assumed I’d be hypersensitive to every sound, but I tried to just focus on the crickets and my book.

Girl I heard a noise and I swore in my brain it was a bear sniffing 🤣🤣 then I finally … rationally was like.. oh that’s literally the wind blowing my tent 🤣

That’s the worst! In the Big Horns, my friend and I were in our tent when a bear came sniffing, and we had to sit petrified as it walked the perimeter. We finally decided to get the bear spray and make a run for our car down the trail, and once we slooooowly unzipped the tent, we found a dang cow staring at us and chewing grass

Well, what did you think of it? Love to hear your thoughts about it. It’s been a ling time since my first solo. Did you back yard solo? Looks like a misty morning!

Back field camping—I could see the house in the distance, but was far enough away to feel alone and vulnerable. I was a lot less afraid than I thought I would, even when I walked out in the dark and caught bright green eyes in my headlamp (I just waved at the opossum and kept going). I definitely want to keep doing it!

I love this! I went to see the little Grand Canyon and stayed at a little park near there and then also at one near Augusta. I ended up doing a little trip going to some places around Weat and south GA
