Merchandise Look at this silly thing!
I bought one of my most-wanted Gin items from Mercari recently, (layer scape Gintoki figure) and the seller included this glasses holder as a bonus. It's so goofy and I love it! Now Gin can hold my old lady reading glasses for me!

Discussion This expression disintegrates me into bits everytime Spoiler
Scrolling through Pinterest and came across it again. I'm so sorry to bring this in your feed. I just wanted to maybe share the pain that this image caused me. Watching the goofy silver haired samurai making this face had me lying on my bed and weeping. The thing is that this was the moment when he had gritted his teeth, yet once again, to go through the same hell he did back with Shoyo. How can I ever curse my life when I've literally watched him live through his worst nightmare not once but twice. Maybe tge comfort he found among everyone in Edo gave him a hope that he's never have to face a day like that again but yet here he was. He deserves the world.

I love Gintama and am so excited for the anime next month! If it weren't for Sorachi, I don't know if I would have ever picked up drawing in my life. Hope you all stay safe and enjoy this little fanart I made :)

Discussion Kamui analysis of the character
I found this character analysis of Kamui of Yato by Seph the Sin and wanted to share it. The author did an amazing job breaking down his background and personal tragedy — exactly what I felt while watching. Actually, I’ve met people like that myself, yeah. What do you think?

Discussion Question about the number of episodes.
I'm currently on Gintama season 2 episode 5. I watched 100 episodes in season 1. However, in episode 5 it mentions that this was the 206th episode? I'm a bit confused.

Discussion Thoughts on Yoshiwara in Flames Spoiler
Just finished the Yoshiwara in Flames Arc, and while I understand the love for it and personally think it was overall very well written, I feel the ending was ultimately botched.
I don't want to be seen as just a contrarian, but I can't really see why people think it's conclusion was so great. I will admit that most of the discussion regarding it I've seen are from skimming through the subreddit on the Arc, and comments from HiAnime, so perhaps not the widest range of sources.
I still want to know what y'all think about it. Am I just an odd-one-out, or are their others who were disappointed with its conclusion?
Edit: Much needed elaboration in comments. Also, can you pin comments?

Anime The ultimate guide to watching Gintama and what you can skip
Gintama is my favourite piece of media ever. I love how it mixes comedy and tragedy so easily. One particular moment in the second movie had me laugh out loud when seconds before that I was crying like never before (easily my favourite movie ever).
Because of that I have tried to get people into Gintama for years and never suceeded. I realized it could be because of the quality. As much as I love Gintama, I think the difference in quality is pretty drastic- not only because of individual arcs, but because I genuinely think the humor of the 2011 and onwards seasons are much better than the previous ones. So, I finally decided to do an episode help for begginers and what they can skip.
- Gintama (original series with 201 episodes. You can skip the 2 first episodes, and instead of watching the Benizakura arc, you can watch the first movie. Virtually the same, but with improved animation. You can also do the same for the Shinsengumi Crisis arc, which has a "Yorinuki 2D version")
- Gintama (2011 series, 51 episodes. I don't recommend it, but you can watch yet another "Yorinuki 2D version" of the Four Devas Arc)
- Gintama Enchousen (2012, it's a selection of 13 new episodes and 11 "best-of" ones you can skip)
- The second movie, Be Forever Yorozuya
- Gintama 2015, right until the Shogun Assasination arc starts in episode 300 (impossible to miss, they hype it up a lot). Before watching the remaining episodes, I strongly recommend watching Gintama Porori-hen (13 episodes) and the Love Potion OVAS. Then you can resume normally.
- Gintama 2017
- Gintama Silver Soul arc
- Gintama The Semi Final
- Gintama The Final
So thanks for reading and-what? What do you mean you don't want to see so many episodes? You just want to skip to the serious arcs? Oh alright, alright. Yeah, I'm not doing that.
Comedy episodies are as important to Gintama as the serious arcs. Without spending time laughing at these characters, when they finally do serious stuff like fighting, dying, or having a final reunion that is so hype that it laughs at the MCU's Endgame, you won't feel nothing. If you don't want comedy episodes, you shouldn't be watching Gintama at all. No, you are not going to understand why we like this series so much if you just watch the serious stufd. There are good episode guides about which ones are important to the overall plot, but you are very mistaken if you think there is filler in an anime that literally makes meta references about fake endings, false movie and videogames announcements, and such. Gintama's best quality is the characters. They shine on their interactions in non-serious arcs. You are just not going to care that much about them
It's okay if you don't like the starting episodes, as I said, I myself find them rough. It's okay if you just don't click with the humor or the many references. It's okay to not like something. You can walk away from it. But trying to just watch parts of a story just so you can say you have done so it's nosense. Of course you are never going to understand why people like it so much. You are not even watching it because you truly want to.
Thanks for coming to my elitist ted talk, trough I must also say I heavily disagree with the other elitist take of the serious arcs not being important on Gintama- you are as mistaken as the newcomer who thinks the comedy is "filler".
