I was saving up for a 44 mag desert eagle, then the New York "safe" act passed. Now they are illegal. They do not have an illegal capacity but they are "too heavy"... What kinda shit is that

Yeah, I thought they came almost exclusively in "Drug Kingpin Gold".

With optional tiger stripes

That's the Gold Nitride finish which is arguably more practical than the 24k gold plating.

"More practical" meaning if you actually do shoot it, you can clean it with solvents that would otherwise eat though gold, copper, lead etc without ruining the finish.

u/akjax Aug 15 '14

So is the "Titanium Gold" finish (as Magnum Research calls it) the nitride?

1

u/pipechap Aug 15 '14

Yup, same as you'll find on some AR15 bolt carriers, bolts, firing pins, etc.

u/akjax Aug 15 '14

Good to know if/when I ever decide I need a handgun for pimping! Thanks.

u/ILikeLeptons Aug 16 '14

do you clean your pistol with aqua regia?

31

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '14

Deagle is as practical as a condom for sandwiches packing

10

u/Softy_K Aug 15 '14

Too small?

6

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14

So it's too small..? Do you know how analogies work?

7

u/Aethir300 Aug 15 '14

They'd probably be awesome as a sidearm for camping in the deep woods. .50AE/44Mag would be good for bear and wolf deterrent.

4

u/dannysmackdown Aug 16 '14

I've heard they are kinda unreliable but who knows. A large frame Revolver may be better.

2

u/Aethir300 Aug 16 '14

Not disagreeing with reliability because I have no personal experience with one.

Rimmed cartridges never cycle very reliably in an automatic. Not to mention how uncomfortable it is to hold because of how thick the grip is.

2

u/dannysmackdown Aug 18 '14

Yea a Revolver would better suit a large cartridge

u/greyscaleminions Aug 16 '14

Desert Eagles are loud, heavy, kick like a mule, and are completely impractical. But they look hella badass.

5

u/epicfailx99 Aug 16 '14

But one deags

real life != counterstrike

1

u/arb1987 Aug 16 '14

I wanted to keep mine in my Mercedes so kinda practical

1

u/jasonr686 Aug 16 '14

No, not really. They also Jam alot if not using AE ammo in my experience.

They are fun when they work, though.

11

u/itookurpoptart Aug 15 '14

Oh really? Find something that isn't banned and strap lead weights to it. Then throw it at your government.

5

u/epicfailx99 Aug 16 '14

Yeah, let's strap bricks to this crossbow!

Take that, government!

7

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '14

What part of the safe act says that? That's fucking insane

3

u/arb1987 Aug 16 '14

Penal Law section 400.02. 2 f - A manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded

http://www.scopeny.org/safe_act/

The desert eagle is 71.4 oz. sucks

4

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14

Question from a Brit, sure you could just mod the arse off it with carbon-fibre parts... yes expensive, but that'd get round it surely?

7

u/BatCountry9 Aug 16 '14

How the fuck is extra weight dangerous?

15

u/HIV_AIadeen Aug 16 '14

They're going after AR pistols

7

u/arb1987 Aug 16 '14

could drop it and break a toe, or break a sweat picking it back up

Upstate NY is a joke that everyone wishes would disappear.

1

u/18Feeler Aug 16 '14

U WOT M8?

4

u/frozenwalkway Aug 16 '14

its to normalize the idea that guns can be illegal for the weight like drugs

1

u/KiloYankee Aug 16 '14

What!!! I've been saving up for the past year and I planned on getting my pistol permit in a month when I turned 21 and was planning on buying this!

2

u/Brucenotsomighty Aug 18 '14

I guess now you will be forced to buy something more practical.

1

u/arb1987 Aug 16 '14

yeah man sorry. I had 1700 saved up at the time. I was going to get the iwi golden stripe one without the scope rails then the safe act passed. I was heart broken

1

u/KiloYankee Aug 16 '14

Well I guess I will have to go with a 1911 or a glock

Stupid Cuomo grrrrr

16

u/TheRighteousTyrant Aug 15 '14

Looks like the LSPD tint from GTA 5.

Reminds me of the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Distribution, in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. http://csgostash.com/skins.php?name=Desert+Eagle+Cobalt+Disruption&id=240

Desert Eagle | Guardian

2

u/jim_dude Aug 16 '14

This was my first thought. :P

2

u/Zheknov Aug 16 '14

that one is a ddpat pattern, this one is just matte blue.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '14

Oddly erotic.

4

u/Zheknov Aug 15 '14

yeah i really like how smooth the matte blue looks.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14

That blue reminds me of dummy guns like this one.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14

I came to the comments expecting to find this as the explanation, like a boot/training gun, simunition gun, or something else along those lines.

1

u/noahwhygodwhy Aug 16 '14

That is one handsome gun.

1

u/weaponslover Aug 16 '14

Its airsoft

-1

u/LithePanther Aug 16 '14

Looks like a toy...

-7

u/P_F_Flyers Aug 16 '14

Yeah it's definitely the ugliest gun I've seen in gunporn.

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14

Blue and brown looks awful on this gun

-10

u/metastasis_d Aug 16 '14

What a terrible looking gun.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '14 edited Aug 16 '14

pic should have an nsfw tag because it's fucking erotic! i really wish magnum research sold mark VII style barrels, the mark XIX barrels look fucking goofy with the picatinny rails on top instead of dovetail mounts
