ANNOUNCEMENT A Welcome to macOS 15 Sequoia

Woohoo another year of suffering Intel isn't dead!

Compatible Hardware

2018 and 2019 Macbook Airs are out of the running, but their hardware is shared with the Macbook Pros of the same years. Therefore, if your setup works with Sonoma, it'll probably still work with Sequoia.

  • iMac 2019 and later
  • Mac Pro 2019 and later
  • iMac Pro 2017
  • Mac Studio 2022 and later
  • MacBook Air 2020 (Intel) and later
  • Mac mini 2018 and later
  • MacBook Pro 2018 and later

Yes I love year numbers what's this mean

Thankfully nothing to hackintosh users, besides needing to update your SMBIOS if it was on an older model.

Supported GPUs:

  • Polaris (RX 480, 580, etc)
  • Vega (Vega 56, Radeon VII, etc)
  • RDNA 1 (5700XT, etc)
  • RDNA 2 (6600XT, etc)
  • Skylake (HD 500) spoofed to Kaby Lake
  • Kaby Lake (HD 600)
  • Coffee Lake (UHD 600)
  • Comet Lake (UHD 600)
  • Ice Lake (G1, G5, etc.)

OCLP

Starting with OCLP 2.0.0, you can finally make your old trash hardware run Sequoia to its fullest extent. You'll need OCLP if you use Broadcom WiFI.

WiFi

Broadcom is still officially dead, but OCLP can be used to bring back its functionality. A great post by u/ChrisWayg details how to do this. https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/1gvu5n1/broadcom_wifi_on_macos_sonoma_and_sequoia_fenvi/

Intel WiFI works with itlwm and Heliport, but not Airportitlwm.

Ok where do I download 15

Either with gibmacos, or through the Software Updater.

Is x86 macOS dead?

Next year hopefully, but their approach with dropping hardware comes at odds with Sequoia's compatibility list. They will likely either drop all of Intel at once, or drop models slowly.

Can I emulate ARM macOS 15 on x86?

No.

Can I run ARM macOS 15 on a Raspberry Pi?

No.

Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes

No.

Updating to Sequoia

As Apple now polls for more T2-specific information from its Macs, you can't update to Sequoia without either of these fixes:

  • Use iMac19,1 SMBIOS to update, then revert to your old SMBIOS if needed
  • Download the latest release of RestrictEvents.kext, and use it with the boot argument revpatch=sbvmm.

Note: You may encounter issues with the update not installing if you have BluetoolFixup.kext. Disable it while you are updating and re-enable it afterwards.

And as always, follow the Dortania guide first before asking questions!

ANNOUNCEMENT Next Stop: macOS 26 Tahoe

Hackintoshing lives for another year! macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.

Officially supported Intel models:

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019)
  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (2020)
  • iMac (2020)

Hello I am a Year Number Lover But What Does This Mean

All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.

OCLP

Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.

Can I emulate ARM macOS 26 on x86?

No.

Can I run ARM macOS 26 on a Raspberry Pi?

No.

Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes

No.

Does it boot on Intel Hackintoshes now?

Yes, with a custom Opencore build linked here: (requires GitHub account to access)

https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/actions/runs/15548251082/artifacts/3292569096

Replace your existing Opencore.efi with the one from the download link. Make sure that your current configuration works for OC 1.0.4 first (OCValidate is a good tool to verify.)

Make sure you include -lilubetaall in your boot arguments.

Known Issues as of Beta 2

  • Race condition with VoodooPS2 and VoodooI2C, so on some boots they don't initialize properly
  • AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.

  • WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic with AMDSupport mentioned.

  • IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics

  • IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets

DISCUSSION Why does Hackintosh have higher RAM usage than Windows?

Hello everyone, I'm new to hackintosh. I recently built my own EFI for the first time and successfully booted it. I've been using it normally for over a month. Here are my specs:

CPU: i3-12100F

MB: Gigabyte H610M-K DDR4

GPU: AMD 6650XT

RAM: Crucial 3200MHz 16GB*2

SSD: KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G3 1TB

LAN: Realtek® GbE LAN chip

Wifi and BT: N/A

OS: Sequoia 15

I've been using Windows 11 with this setup for work. I run a lot of apps and web pages, and my average RAM usage is around 60%. However, after using the Sequoia 15, with the same apps and web pages, my average RAM usage is around 75%-80%. Although I haven't had any issues using it, I'm not sure why the difference occurs. Is it due to different system logic, or is it due to some driver configuration errors?

I'd be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on this!

Hello to help new users while chosing their SSDs I have had a personal experience with my SSD of Patriot brand. It boots but always give a package error after finilizing the install process whatever I did to solve the issue as per forums and tutorials it would not solve the issue

So I suggest choose another brand SSD

I tried many Mac OS versions it would turn same.

The SSD is healthy as it currently runs another OS wihout issues.

Hello, reddit! Which is the cheapest graphics card for hackintosh? By the cheapest, I mean that it will be able to work at least a little adequately, and not stupidly launch a hackintosh. I will be glad for any advice!

DISCUSSION Old hackintosh build looking for a semi modern browser for Mac OS mavericks

Hello, I’m looking at building a hackintosh system that’s running Mac OS mavericks, my specs are going to be the flowing *Quick update, i just needed to change this really quickly. i made a mistake in the post where i said i was going to use dual 980ti's well i just relazied i cant becuase the motherboard only has 1 x16 pcie slot so i can only use 1 980ti.

  • motherboard Asus Z9NA-DC6
  • 128gb ddr3 ecc ram
  • Dual intel Xeon E5-4450v2 8core 16threaded CPUs at 3.40ghz Ivybridge
  • 1300 watt psu unsure of the brand at the moment
  • Nvidia Geforce 980Ti 6gb gddr5 Dual 4tb hdd 3.5” for storage 2tb ssd 2.5” sata drive for multi booting windows xp and windows 7. I will be using clover boot loader with this system.

I’m basicly looking to try and use Mac OS mavericks as my daily driver for two weeks as a challenge to my self. I was able to do it with windows xp as there was plenty of mods I could do to get xp working. Just wondering what modern web browser I could use that will let me accessed the modern web like Reddit, YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, Hulu & Disney+. I’m also wanting to learn albeten live as well. I think this workstation will be sufficient in what I want it to do. I’m also looking at running some legacy applications that modern Mac OS can’t run.

HELP [MID FAIL] macOS Big Sur not installing (on apple logo) / booting

So um I have been trying to get macOS Big Sur running on well unsupported hardware (specs below) this EFI was built for it, I boot into BaseSystem, open Terminal, change date, use UnPlugged, I even extracted InstallAssistant and also used already found .app, Install macOS Big Sur.app launches, I select disk, next, it says 19 minutes remaining, restarts, OC, select macOS Installer (there is also only “Recovery”), Apple logo appears, progress bar goes full round, appears again, like 30-35% progress bar is done, time remaining appears, 29 minutes remaining, counts down to 1, few minutes remaining, no change in progress bar, I let it stay for more than 12 hours, return to it as same as before, boot BaseSystem again, Startup disk, Select macOS 11.7.10, “Macintosh HD” appears in OC, one progress bar completes, second appears, stuck at end (full end), restart, re-try, this time stuck at 45-55%. Before that I had macOS High Sierra successfully running, I opened “InstallAssistant.pkg” there and installed, opened Install macOS Big Sur app, let it do, and stuck as before (technically after)

CPU:- Intel Core i5-2430M@ 2.4GHz

GPU:- Intel HD Graphics 3000

RAM:- 8 GB Samsung DDR3, dual channel (if that could be issue)

MOBO:- Dell Latitude E6420 (BIOS revision A26)

BOOT:- GPT w/ UEFI (on USB OC)

HDD:- WD 320GB hdd for macos (2nd partition for data)

SMBIOS:- MBP 11,5 ( MBP mid 2014 15”)

1st picture, 1st time (with High Sierra installation with Data) Macintosh Hd and Macintosh HD -Data appeared booting in “macOS Installer”

2nd picture, booting in “Macintosh HD“ (macos 11.7.10) stuck at 45-55%

3rd picture, macOS High Sierra successfully running before (with smbios = mbp mid 2014)

4th picture, 4th time (empty apfs disk) booted in “macOS Installer”

HELP After first part of install, Drive shows as "Non-bootable" on Recovery.

I made my own EFI, got Ventura since it's recommended by most people and got the BIOS all set up, but instead of installing macOS on the inernal HDD, I decided to use my external HDD since my mom also uses the computer and she finds Hackintosh/macOS sketchy/hard to use, and since I already had to re-install Windows due to an unfortunate attempt and Windows trying to repair itself, i decided to use the external HDD, macOS Extended Journaled GUID partition and the boot menu recognizes it as "macOS Install" but it doesn't boot at all, when seleting it, it re-boots to macOS Recovery and when I saw it on Disk Utility, it says that it isn't bootable, any fix for it? Also, yes, all of the functionalities work (Audio, Wi-Fi, everything else)

HELP USB drive and OpenCore issues while trying to install MacOS Ventura

For context: I have a ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 with an Intel i5 processor and 16gb of ram with AMD integrated graphics.

I partitioned my 512GB SSD to make room for MacOS, i dedicated 128GB for Mac.

I have a SanDisk 115GB USB SSD as well which I am using.

I am new to this, I’ve never tried hackintoshing before so apologies for my beginner-ness.

I have been able to download the version of MacOS i want just fine with gibMacOS, but i have no idea what I’m doing wrong with OpenCore and getting the script to turn the downloaded MacOS folder to a bootable installation media. When I try running MakeInstall.bat, I try selecting my USB drive to make the installation media (or whatever the mac equivalent of windows install. media is) but when I select Disk 1, (my usb drive) it says Disk 1 is not an option. I havent necessarily had any problems with my EFI folder, but I have no idea if the EFI works or not because I have not been able to get the installation media to work. I have tried changing filesystem formats to FAT32 for the installer and bootable partitions, but still no luck.

I have only a few times got OpenCore to load, but the times it did, I had not correctly installed MacOS, I only had the installer files in it.

Any assistance will be really appreciated! I will show photos / upload files if needed for assistance.

My goal for my hackintosh is solely for using GarageBand, as my friend and I make music together and he has a mac and I only have an iPad and a ThinkPad, and since i am not spending $1000 on a mac, I would rather just hack it.

DISCUSSION I have some questions regarding bluetooth on intel card macOS Sequoia. ( ivy bridge)

Hello r/hackintosh, I was able to install macOS Sequoia on my old HP Pavilion DV6-7070ex ivy bridge and Mostly everything works but sleep doesn't work and bluetooth doesn't work.

about sleep: sleep is kind of weird on my laptop, on sequoia, it acts like it sleeps it turns off the display when I close the lid but my laptop has lights for disk activity and power, which means I can tell if the system is in sleep mode, it goes to sleep for a split second then it powers up ( I know because hear the fan spin up and the disk activity light flashing) but here's a twist, on Monterey it did the same thing until after a good bit of time( 1- 2 weeks), it would sleep normally (but USbmap kexts and usbtool box kexts have to be disabled for sleep to work properly). if someone knows how to fix sleep let me know.

*************************************************************

About bluetooth: it simply does not work: even with kexts like intelbuletoothfirmware, bluetoolfixup.kext, and intelpatch( can't remember the full name) kexts it simply shows up as this in system info:  Bluetooth Controller:

  Address: NULL

  State: Off

  Chipset: BCM_4350C2

  Discoverable: Off

  Firmware Version: v0

Supported services: 0x392039 < HFP AVRCP A2DP HID Braille LEA AACP GATT SerialPort >

  Transport: PCIe

  Vendor ID: 0x004C (Apple)

*****************************************

I tried to map USB a lot of times but it doesn't work, the wifi/network card in my laptop is an Intel Centurion wireless N-2230 wifi card that my old sandy bridge mackintosh had ( that bluetooth worked perfectly on for some reason lol) also something to note here is I'm using airportitlmw ( Ventura) with the patch to make it work on sequoia. even with heliport and itlwm it would do the same issues. so if someone knows how to fix that please let me know!

******************************************

also this question is off topic to bluetooth and sleep, is it okay for me to update my laptop to macOS sequoia 15.6? I have 15.5 installed

******************************************
System specs:

intel core i7 ivy bridge: i7 3610QM @ 2.3ghz

16gb ddr3 ram @ 1600 mhz

Intel HD 4000 ( main)

Nvidia geforce gt 630M ( disabled at BIOS level)

intel centrino wireless N-2230 Wifi card.

Realtek ethernet that I don't know the exact model but it supports about to one 1 gib/s.

macOS Version: macOS Sequoia 15.5 but thinking of updating to sequoia 15.6.

*****************************************

any help provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

HELP is there a way for me to add an Option in the OpenCore Boot Picker to toggle Verbose?

Title,

Hello the people of r/hackintosh.

this is mainly cosmetic but I want to be able to toggle verbose boot in the Boot picker, if you saw my last post it was about how I got macOS Sequoia on my ivy bridge but I'm scared to turn off verbose then it bricks but I want to play this safely. Like an option to enable/disable Verbose boot ( -v boot arg)? if its possible please tell me I'd like to try to add it to my boot picker

macOS Sequoia on my ivy bridge Specs. ( its an old pic but it Has the specs)

I know some people done a toggle SIP option so if it's possible to make it with Verbose I'd like to get it on my config. Thanks for any Help provided.

QUESTION [IVY BRIDGE LAPTOP] Im trying to manually create an EFI for Monterey through Tahoe - Any tips?

(NOTE: Thanks to all the comments, but, i dont want a universal EFI yet; it’s post-install setup) As you all may know, i have booted macOS on my Dell Inspiron 3521 (i3-3227U Ivy Bridge) from Mojave to all the way upto Tahoe Beta 1.

All of those installations were, however, done using Op-Simplify (except Mojave through Big Sur; I followed the guide), which i dont like to use at all. I believe in getting the work done myself - not by the help of some autonomous program.

Therefore, if there are any tips for getting them booted up - please help me.

Currently, i have booted macOS Monterey (till Setup Assistant - no graphics acceleration/wifi) - using the Desktop Ivy Bridge guide but slightly modified for my setup.

My current plan: Get Monterey booted with WiFi, Sound and iGPU Acceleration Same but with Ventura through Tahoe (ill wait for the metallibpkg for Tahoe)

After over a year of Hackintoshing, I do think i have the necessary knowledge and (hopefully) skill level to pull this off.

Device Specs:

Laptop Model: Dell Inspiron 3521 (End Of Life)

CPU: i3-3227U “Ivy Bridge”

iGPU: HD4000

dGPU: None

Audio: Realtek ALC 3883 (Actual ALC 282)

WiFi Card: ath9565

K&B & Trackpad: PS/2

Ethernet: Non-existent (broken physically)

SSD: Kingston SA400S37480G

RAM: 8GB

QUESTION What motherboard should I get for around 150$

I'm looking to upgrade from my biostar mobo, which always gives me problems with hackintosh. My budget is around 150 and I will buy a used one with a cpu included. I know that for that money I won't get anything fancy or anything, but I'm on a tight budget. And it doesn't matter if it's Intel or and, as long as it's good for hackintosh.

HELP [help] No internet in Sequoia installer

Specs:

HP ProBook 440 G3

CPU - Intel i7-6500U

dGPU (unsupported & disabled) - AMD ATI Radeon R7 M260/M265 / M340/M360 / M440/M445 / 530/535 / 620/625 Mobile

iGPU - Intel Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520]

RAM - 7828MiB

here is the full story

I made the plist, all the kext, except I got 1 wrong

booted but no internet in the installer

then fixed the kext, added itlwm.kext and then edited the plist and added my WiFi ssid and password

booted again and somehow there is still no internet, the only option looks like is an Ethernet cable, which I will order tomorrow hoping it works, but I still need wifi

  • itlwm.kext v2.3.0 is loading (confirmed via kmutil showloaded).
  • airportltlwm is not used as not supported for sequoia and above for now
  • I even edited Info.plist in itlwm.kext to include SSID + password, but still no connection
  • Kexts are updated.
  • itlwm.kext is placed in EFI/OC/Kexts and referenced in config.plist.
  • Other kexts: Lilu, WhateverGreen, VirtualSMC, AppleALC, etc.
