Cops are allowed to punch people to gain compliance if they don't have any other good alternatives. He isn't going to taser her and accidentally miss and hit his friends or a bystander.
She slapped him once, and given her position she couldn't use her body to put a lot of power into the blow. That one woman could absolutely have been properly restrained without punching her in the face.
You’re fighting the same side of the argument here.
They were trying to not restrain her and trying to minimally handle the situation from the start, which is the right thing to do. They probably first asked her to walk out on her own, then instead of handcuffing her in front of everyone they were going to carry her out.
Everything was being done as minimally as possible, which is what you’d probably want, until she started to slap cops.
You can’t have it both ways man. You’d probably be on your high horse bitching about how excessive their force was if she resisted putting handcuffs on in front of a crowd and had to pin her to the ground to properly restrain her in front of everyone.
Nope, because restraining an unruly drunk in order to put on cuffs is a proportional response. Punching her in the face while she's being carried is not.
Not everything is about being morally superior. Sometimes people just see something and think it's not okay.
