I have called the cops in the past when I was more naive, they always seemed to be too busy protecting rich people's property, harassing the homeless, and bashing protestors to actually show up and help. More than half of all murders in the US go unsolved and an insignificant percentage are actually prevented by police. Assuaging the paranoid fear that some stranger is going to break into my house and murder me and the irrational belief that the police can help me if that happens is not worth having a violent gang roaming the streets and violently carrying out the will of the ruling class.
