The great thing about literally every other subculture in existence is that they make hardcore seem around 2% less embarrassing.

u/CrossoverEpisodeMeme 6d ago
Right on. Literally every musical genre has some sort of cringeworthy activity associated with their live shows, so you might as well have fun doing it.

Hardcore is (when it is good at least) fun in a live setting in a way almost nothing else is. Like I know people here enjoy maybe downplaying hardcore and make fun of it, to a desperate and kinda pathetic degree at times, but in all honesty it is about as fun as you can have at a show.
I'm over the insecure self deprecating stuff, hardcore is sick, no irony needed.

Greasy dancer playing frisbee with himself is probably one of the less embarrassing people in attendance here. The rabbit hole goes deep
Also, people think mosh pits are scary, but getting rocked in the face by a windmill is way less harmful to your body than sketchy rave drugs

but getting rocked in the face by a windmil is way less harmful to your body than sketchy rave drugs
To be fair you can test your rave drugs.

u/IzzardVersusVedder 5d ago
You can test my windmill too, smart guy

u/vanishingpointz 5d ago
There are no harmful drugs. People just take the wrong dose. Raves have the best drugs. Stop being so straight and alert

u/Dazzling-Economics-4 5d ago
That’s a dumb thing to say. There are a lot of harmful drugs that will destroy your body over the years. Every drug is harmful in some way

u/SchmanteZuba2 4d ago
Given the double digit number of people from my hometown scene and age group who died before 50 and a handful dead before 30, I agree with this guy... Drugs are pretty much FAFO.

I just think it is funny when I see something from a subculture I am so far removed from that I basically have no frame of reference from it at all. I listen to very little metal, but since there is obviously some crossover it is at least in my periphery, so while I think metal is largely corny I at least understand it on some level.
... but like rave culture? I don't even know where to begin with understanding it lol.

u/riceandbeanburrito 5d ago
As a metal head. Yeah metal is corny as fuck at times. Just find the right bands and people and you don't have to deal with cornballs. Also hardcore can be corny as shit too

Virgin stinky Rave flowarts vs Virgin stinky hardcore dancer. Idg why it has to be an adversarial relationship

u/paintedw0rlds 5d ago
For one, I appreciate the acceptance of weirdness you can find the stinky rave zone. Ive been known to enjoy a sacred plant session as well.

Better not be bringing your grandma's good doily into the pit and getting it stained

Shit is getting out of hand. Too many different pits and zones we gotta watch out for these days. The good old classic mosh pit, the hardcore dancing kids, the jorking zone, the magic playing area, the yo-yo spot, the row row row your boat people, and now pizza twirling guys.

At this point with how viral hardcore pits are going now I would not be surprised if someone tried this for their 5 minutes of fame at a hardcore show

See the best thing about hardcore pits and psytrance dancefloors are that you can two-step in both of them. As someone with no rhythm I love going to both

Went to a show once where some kid I knew from high school was fucked up on MDMA and coke and was standing in the middle of the pit twirling glow sticks around like he was at a rave. He would come up to me and try to talk to me about all the “sick moves” he was doing with the glow sticks and i would just go “yup. you sure are twirling those glow sticks bud”. Anyway, he proceeded to get moshed on and crowdkilled all night and then tried to pick a fight with like 5 dudes at once before getting kicked out. Couple months later, he got fucked up in coke and tried to strangle his mom and got a nice little scizo diagnosis out of it.
So i guess to answer your question: sure, go for it.

At a hardcore/wrestling show at Bonk's Bar in philly last weekend there was a dude tearing it up with a yoyo in the pit. There's no such thing as cringe.

Say what you want about raves but man they're always a blast, just a bunch of people looking to have a good time. Even a moodier genre like this dark trance/psy will have fun crowds passing out free beers and trading kandi.
