Thoughts on this record?

Post image

Might be my AOTY, reminds me of early twitching tongues but with a lot more doomy elements in a very good way

I have two thoughts:

  1. This is the worst cover art of all time

  2. Your description makes it sound horrible

OP gave a horrible description, lmao—for me it’s equal parts Sabbath, Crowbar and Queens of the Stone Age. Heavy as hell, great riffs, really fun.

Iron Gauntlet is the track, but recommend kicking it from the top.

I can't believe they botched an opportunity for the shocker. So close.

I don’t see what’s so bad about the art

It actually took watching a live set for me to fully appreciate how good of a singer Saba actually is. I knew he ripped at guitar from the Bad Seed and Nails days, but seeing him pull both lead guitar and vocal duties is very impressive. Fav track is probably Her Majesty.

The best description I can come up with is that this is simply a metal band. Clear doom influences but there’s stuff coming from all directions on this, the song Yes bounces from straight up death metal to practically dream pop. It feels like an amalgamation of Saba’s influences without having boundaries

Killer. Might be my favorite of the year so far.
