Tap water in Germany is the best monitored food item and drinkable everywhere within the country. You're more likely to encounter problems with bottled water than you'll ever be with tap water here.

For everyone older than an infant: Yes.

You can contact your local Gemeinde or Stadtwerke and ask for the recent water test results.

What is making you worry? Are you new in Germany or has there been a safety warning in BH recently?

German tap water is very high quality. In some places it is bottled mineral water quality.

If there is, for any reason, a local problem, it will be all over local media; newspapers, radio and Hessenschau (the local TV News).

In general, the water is excellent but the taste can vary, generally due to the water hardness.

Very, very rarely a problem can happen and you might be told to boil it or use bottled water but that is an unusual event.

The water provided by the state is 100% safe to drink. However the states responisbility generally stops at the point it enters a Private house. This means if youre really that worried you should worry about the pipes and plumbing of the house.
