ran out of fuel

I´m almost at khiva. but I had a last minute change of heart and sent a longbow back south to contact a tarkhan I ignored(because he was too far). The problem is I ran out of fuel while chasing a trade convoy so the longbow is stuck in the middle of the road, far away from my main fleet. Is there anything I can do like edit the savefile to refill it? I´m not giving up on that ship

You can send a Skylark out to it and boost it back to a town.

Otherwise... congratulations on your new airbase. You will likely have the opportunity to get several more carriers once you arrive at Khiva, so a single Longbow shouldn't make or break your game.

Ships running out of fuel sucks, and can sometimes happen accidentally if you mis-click and a ship paths to rendezvous with a mobile group rather than an intended city.

You can send tanker to refuel it later.

Or you can try to edit save file. It's text JSON-like structure.

Thanks, I tried that but oddly it reverted the changes I made everytime I booted up the game, idk why

You probably edit wrong file. Not the save but something like current game state.

is it not profile.seria in the profile_x file? Anyways, already won the game

Send a refueling vessel or if you’re down bad I’m pretty sure you can select the lone vessel and request reinforcements from a Tarkahn, which would give two fully fuelled ships to spawn with it.

seems possible, I´ll try this next time
