How do I put this vent cover back on?
galleryThe cover fell and I can’t tell where the metal prongs are supposed to go. The outside of the fan is filled in with wood (pictured). Help!

Deck is probably 10 years old and I’ve been here for about a year. I did a bit of cleaning with mold armor to get rid of the majority of mildew (but still some remaining) - but wanted to get some recommendations on next steps. The wood is cracked here and there and isn’t in the best shape. I’m in Texas so a very humid location
Sand? Stain? Seal? Power wash? Redo completely? This is a second floor deck

Recently discovered that our half bathroom vent was feeding into the ceiling and I have been working on converting this to a storage room. Today, when I was tearing out the ceiling panel, I found these spots behind this. I was worried this could be mold and sprayed mold remover/prevention on it and have dehumidifier running nearby. Could this be mold and, if it is, what should I be doing to solve it?

Hello, I recently moved into a new house and I don’t remember if we saw this during the walk through or when we first moved in. However I did notice these scuff or potential burn(?) marks above this one outlet a few days ago. There doesn’t seem to be any damage to the outlet itself.
Curious if this could be a burn mark from faulty wiring inside? We did a huge amount of moving so perhaps it could also be a scuff mark, but its symmetrical shape and way it’s sitting on the wall has me more concerned. Pretty much i just need to know if I need to call an electrician to come over and diagnose. Thank you in advance!

Wanted to ask some folks that may have seen this before and can explain. Very long story short bought a condo, prior owners slathered horribly-colored paint all over the kitchen cabinets. I chose to degloss the outside of the cabinets and repaint them but just tossed some primer into the insides so I could paint over it later (I will replace them in a couple years or so, just tossed make it bearable).
That was a couple weeks ago, just got back around to it with other projects going on. Seems the primer bonded with the paint they used and just peeled off, leaving the original cabinet behind - only in the areas I used primer in. Is it because of the laminate/melamine surface?
Ngl im thrilled, but also intrigued.

Hello I’m based in Sydney and I have multiple cracks on the walls. Based on a google search I believe these are hairline cracks? Does anyone know how I fix or is there someone I can call to fix it? Thank you!

I'm not sure what's going on here. Was insulating the rim joist in my house (southern Ontario). Moved in about 5 years ago. It's a 1962 original bungalow with a second floor addition.
I was using R10 foam board, sealing around it with expanding foam, and then putting R22 Comfortbatt on top. I finished one room, started this room. Moved this old piece of batt to the side and discovered...a missing piece of rim joist? what the hell is going on here? Any thoughts/tips? Photo for area context, video for footage of missing piece.

Not sure if it “almost” caught fire, since this piece completely burned through. But the clothes don’t catch fire so I’m counting that as a win. Is this repairable? If so, about how much would it cost? Really hoping I don’t have to buy a new dryer. And before anyone says it, I would clean the lint trap before every load. But I guess there was lint deeper in the dryer that I didn’t know to clean 😔

Moved in a couple months ago and had seen a couple water damage spots along this line in our ceiling but thought it was old and probably from a spill that didn’t get cleaned up and seeped through the subfloor above. There’s no water line running there so I didn’t think there was an active threat of damage. Yesterday it rained heavy and we came home to this and water dripping down our walls/paint bubbling. did not realize the gutters were packed with debris from our trees. I now assume that water overflowed from our gutters and backflowed into our home through a gap in the roof barrier.
Ive cleaned out the gutters and have fans going to try to dry the wall and ceilings out. What is my next step? Do I need to have a professional come look at this before I repair ceiling and repaint? What type of professional would that be, a roof guy, drywall guy? Thanks in advance!

I'm remodeling my bathroom to have a walk-in shower with a drop in soaking tub inside it.
What's the best way to waterproof the tub framing? I'm using goboard for the walls. Would liquid waterproofing work well?

Our house is finished with stucco but has wood sheathing. Can I simply screw in my camera mounts using wooden screws in this case? (After drilling pilot holes). Any advice as to how deep the stucco likely is?

We are currently redoing the floors in our basement and I would like to fill the cracks per the advice on this subreddit.
Is there a brand and technique advised for this? I’m not worried about the cracks, as they seem pretty standard for slabs like these. But I’ve never filled them before so I am curious which product to use and any advice for doing it efficiently as the basement floor is pretty large.

We have a 1970 fixer upper and we’re having to do ceiling repairs. I’d like to match the repairs to the existing textured ceilings, but I have no clue what this texture is called or how to achieve it??

And now for another episode of r/HomeMaintenance Should I Caulk this? This is the outside door where there is some space between the door trio and the start of the siding. Should I caulk this to make it water tight? TIA!

Can someone please give me some guidance here?
Today when I started the dryer, I heard sparks the second I turned it on. There's a hot water heater next to my dryer, and the duct work had scooted over so that it touched the metal base of the hot water heater.
The sparks start when the dryer duct touches the hot water heater. Below is a video where I scoot the dryer over enough so that it touches, then pull it away.
I'm guessing this is the dryer itself, but could someone please give me some insight into how this could be happening?
UPDATE: The breaker is off and I've got a licensed electrician scheduled to fix it. Thanks everybody.

What's everyone's opinion on the best, longest lasting, exterior paint for wood windows? I don't want to repaint them for as long as possible. :)

Hello! For context my wife and I just bought a 1940s home that has had minimal upgrades. I just noticed this crack on the kitchen ceiling. The kitchen is covered in wallpaper on the walls. Touching it it isn’t wet or anything but it is able to be peeled off. The ceiling itself feels like plastic underneath.
Does this look like water damage or just old wallpaper starting to crack?? Or something? Upstairs above it is the attic.

Just moved in to this house yesterday. I initially caught the kitchen sink leaking out the side of the house and rotten sub floors. I don't know why its a suprise to me that they put floor trim aound the tub 😒

This just appear today . Wondering if this is just a paint problem or starting to be a crack in the wall. Heard no sound last night before this appeared. It continually rained (slight) and the wall is above shower. (If it helps)
Thank you

Hello!
I just started renting this studio space, and there is a storage area that is mostly concrete/brick, but parts of the walls/ceiling have a thin layer of maybe drywall? and then some paint over that. The paint is peeling off and the drywall is sort of falling apart. I don't feel like I need to redo it, although I would love for the flakes to be taken off and cleaned up a bit. Any suggestions? Does it need to just be re-done? Possible to remove all the drywall and just have cement up there?
Also is this paint peeling in an odd way?

Based on screw placement I assume so, but im dumb sometimes and prefer to not have to cut my ceiling up at all. 😁

I see this green wire which is dangling at one end, connected to the ground rod clamp.
Is this the ground wire for the whole house or is it for something else?
Research on Internet says it could be ground for Internet box but don't know.
TIA
