Hospital-Emergency No CPT codes on itemized bill

Post image

I went to the emergency room in the beginning of March 2025 and was there for 6 hours got one bag of IV and a nurse took my blood and then I spoke to a doctor once, and then I spoke to a student doctor twice, and then I was given to packs of crackers and two packs of apple juice and another plastic cup of ice water.

I was in discharged the same day.

I requested an itemized bill, and I attached what I received. I don't see any CPT codes and when I look up the numbers next to the listed items... I can't find what the codes are for or what a fair market value of those codes would be in my area. As you can see in the picture they charged me twice for three procedures or whatever the list of things are called. I'm not sure the technical term.

I went to an in-network emergency room in a in network hospital and owe a total of $637.32.

the hospital billing department said there is some new law where you have to prove that you paid 10% of your gross income in the previous year to qualify for financial assistance, and I did not pay that much in medical bills last year so I am trying to negotiate down the bills as much as I can since I can't apply for assistance.

Does anyone know why these codes don't come up on Google? Did the hospital not give me a true itemized bill? Do I need to request another one specifically demanding their cpt codes in the itemized bill? Any help would be super appreciated thank you so much

But if they charge me two times for something that was done once how would that not change my out-of-pocket?

Maybe not, insurance may pay based on something completely different and may not give a shit about your line items. They may say we x amount for an er visit . We don't care what happend.

Or the rate for thst was 2.00 so whoo you spent more then that in time to get that 2.00 and will wait for the new EOB.

They may negotiated the thing like veniputures are not payable.

What does your EOB say they paid for these items?

The eobs match up but on the EOB the line items that appear to be listed twice on the itemized bill or basically combined on the EOB when you match up the prices

Is it just the labs? Labs can be repeated its not uncommon to get your blood taken more then once for many reasons including to see if treatment is working or if you are getting worse.

They would bill for each time they took the blood and ran the test.

Oh okay now that you mentioned that they did take my blood multiple times I think three times but they told me explicitly that it wasn't anything to do with my blood it was at their machine wasn't working and that I wasn't the only patient whose blood wasn't going through their machine

So that you can try to fight but the lab will need to have documented that. From billing point of view service was done so its billable... now you got to fight care... depending on the hospital set up billing may be the middle man between you and the lab or you may have to go to the hospital advocate and they will work with the lab to authorize the charge being removed for quality
