Reapers and chocolate habs

Post image

First super hot harvest this year, hopefully still time for another flush! I’m very excited for the chocolate habs.

One question: I’d like to dehydrate some of these and others I have growing. Don’t want to do it in the house. What’s the move? Air fryer in the garage?

First year growing, and super happy with what everyone here has helped me create. Gonna try a smoked chocolate reaper, mango hot sauce.

Please help! purple cayenne tips

I have been having trouble with my purple cayenne. I bought a small plant recently and let it grow. It has grown some fruits and 3 of them turned red. One was kinda soft and the other two were firm. But they had almost no spice. It was good and the color is nice. There are a few fruits left that are a dark purple and firm. But am I doing something wrong? I thought they would be spicy. Any tips and tricks is welcomed. I am rookie to this so I am open to any advice and suggestions.

Ps: I read on a Reddit I read there’s a seed exchange??? If there is when does that occur?

Help! New grower pest damage

I’m a new grower in zone 7a and I’ve been having some pest damage. I’ve noticed some flies flying around my plants for a few weeks now and figured that they were the culprit, but now I’m not too sure and I want to figure it out before I act.

I thought I was dealing with a flying pest because the damage is small and spread out and I haven’t seen much whole leaf destruction save for the first picture. But today I noticed the hole in the pepper, and I’m beginning to think I’m dealing with something else. What could be burrowing into the peppers? Could stinkbugs (last slide) be the culprit? Do I have multiple pest issues? Are hornworm/armyworms involved? Do you have any remedy suggestions?

What do y’all think? What should I do next?

A little more information in case it helps: I’m growing in 5gal grow bags. There are a bunch of ants on the sides of these bags, I figured this was normal because after all we are outside. Not all plants are affected equally, some are completely unaffected.

Red ones were advertised as peach ghost peppers and the green one was a yellow reaper.

Work friend provided her garden peppers, mostly green, so I made a batch of fresh garden veggie hot sauce. Tastes like Summer.

Topped vs not

A couple weeks back I saw a bunch of posts on this topic. I don't care where you stand on it, just wanted to share my plants. Both planted on the same date, left one was topped about a month ago. It's got about 20 small peppers on it already. The taller non-topped plant has a few flowers but none have started to turn yet.

I bought a "shishito pepper plant" from a lady on the side of the street, and now I'm not sure what I have growing. The fruit aren't turning yellow, so I'm not sure if the seeds she planted were cross pollinated shishitos, or something else all together. (The woodiness is because it's extremely windy where I live)

Sorry if this is obvious but this is my first year growing peppers. I have no idea what these are. I’ve tried to google it myself without any luck.

I grew too many...what do I do with them all?

Last year my hot peppers didn't do great here in zone 6 so I grew more this year. Well, they are very happy this year and I have FAR more than I know what to do with. And the plants are still loaded with more ripening.

I've made a couple batches of hot sauces, some mango habanero salsa and jerk sauce, but I need more ideas. I'm the only one in my house that can handle heat, so this is definitely overkill. I'd love some ideas of how to preserve at least some of these!

I was so pumped to grow chocolate habs this season. Clearly I’ll just have to wait another year…

Any clue what this is?

It can be done.

I started it in seed starting mix in March under light, then transplanted to black earth and let it go. No extra love or care than any other plant.
