2 MILLION Subscribers!
Wow! This sub sure is growing fast. It was just over a year ago we were celebrating 1 million subscribers, and now we're already at 2 million?!!
Congratulations and thanks to all you hunters out there for participating and helping grow this community.
Images in Comments
Figured I'd take this opportunity to finally start the trial run for embedding images (not gifs) in comments that some of you have been asking for. It'll last about a week, and then we'll hold a poll and get feedback from everyone.
Do remember that any images in comments should be directly related to the post/discussion. Same rules on general conduct (e.g. spam) apply as well.
More Polls!
What's a celebration without more surveys or polls? We'll be holding a number of polls in the coming weeks, and while we have a few ideas in mind, we're asking you to comment with some of your ideas too. Keep in mind that we'll be using the native reddit polls, which have a limit of 6 choices.

Help/Question Question about Meruem and episode 135
What does Meruem mean when he said "I believe it was only a slight change something, somewhere, changed ever so slightly in my current state,I am not a god,but I...No...Perhaps,I only feel this way because everything has fallen into place."My thought is that everything has fallen into place for him and because of that he thought that he indeed is a god but something changed somewhere he no longer thinks that way but my problem is what is it that changed ever so slightly? That was the main question. And one other question is: What Meruem means by god?

Discussion Hunter x Hunter’s Approach to Worldbuilding
I’ve been re-reading the manga from the start & this page from the Yorknew arc (Ch. 95) got me thinking about how this manga’s approach to worldbuilding is very fragmented, which feels appropriate for the type of story it is and the characters we follow.
What I mean by fragmented is that oftentimes, we learn about the world through small random tidbits that come together to form a picture of what a given place’s culture is like.
Take Yorknew City for example, we learn through the Troupe/Mafia conflicts about the 5 continents divided in 10 regions, each having a don and how they congregate in yorknew during the annual auction, how that correlates to the underground auctions taking place at the same time & the mafia’s relationship with the mayor.
We also learn a lot about different types of auctions, appraising techniques, counterfeits, negotiation, etc through Gon, Killua, Leorio & Zepile’s plotline, which gives us yet another glimpse of the city’s culture without us physically exploring it. It makes it feel alive as it’s clear the participants take the craft of the auction very seriously
The same can be said about places like greed island, the Ngl & the republic of east gorteau which we learn about through small lore drops.
This approach makes sense to me because the characters we follow are very goal-driven and only really go to the places they need to go to in order to accomplish their goals. In a series like one piece, the goal itself involves exploration which is why they go to a lot more places.
I also find it brilliant that after ging & gon have their conversation about detours, the worldbuilding of the series also becomes much more grand with the introduction of the dark continent, which fits perfectly with that theme.

Discussion Am I crazy for thinking the Succession War is shaping up to be the greatest arc in Shonen history?
Never have I been so engaged by an arc or a manga and waiting for the new chapters to release. So many interesting characters and moving parts, endless possibilities, and every chapter surprises the reader while making perfect sense. High stakes in every moment. Every character can make a huge difference. It doesn't feel like I'm reading a story plot, but an actual series of events. We can only hope to see the ending.

Discussion Why didn’t Chrollo buy Tier 2 tickets?
In Yorknew City, we saw the Spiders successfully steal every single item that the Mafia community had at their annual auction. That makes them super wealthy. Chrollo wants to hunt Hisoka down on the boat and probably knew that he would need to access to the entire boat to search it. I don’t think that they would not tell ticket buyers about the gate between Tiers 2 and 3 only being one way at purchase since access is one of the privileges of a Tier 2 ticket.
So why would Chrollo not just buy Tier 2 tickets instead of Tier 3?
My reading of this is that Chrollo is a lot more human than his reputation. The psychology of a thief isn’t one of greed and luxury but one of insecurity around resources. Chrollo is rich but he doesn’t feel rich and he doesn’t spend the money he has accumulated. He probably looked at the ticket tier prices, thought “Well, we’re a big group” and just bought the cheapest ones out of habit.
I’m curious about other peoples theories about why Chrollo didn’t buy Tier 2 tickets.

Discussion Is there any hope for Kurapika to survive and be one of the main chachters alongside Leorio and Ging?
I've been lurking around for a while and I found out a lot of fans think Kurapika will die in the ship. I honestly don't know where did that come from? To be clear, I'm not againt main charachters dying, if it's done well then I'm more than fine with it. But Kurapika dying bc of chain jail or emperor time while fighting that prince(I'm not writing that name) or trying to protect Woble and Oito is so lackluster I can't even think about it without cringing. Kurapika might think his death is meaningful because he cares about them and thinks this is the right thing but from a narrative standpoint I think it's pretty bad.
It's clear that Woble is affecting him and making him more hopeful with everything, I don't agree with the people who say he will stay with Oito and Woble and live the rest of his life with them or that Oito will die (I've seen a lot of fans say this, I know we all want some angst but she deserves to run away from these ppl and live a happy life) but I believe thay'll have a significant effect on him and how he views his life and relations. Maybe he'll open up more to his friends, give his email to leorio(lol) and will be less reckless. Him dying would make all these useless and pointless.
As for Leorio, I don't think there's much to say other than the fact that he's due to be the main focus. Gon and Killua were mc's for multiple arcs and Kurapika has SW now. So I think it would be fair to want Leorio to be the main focus of DC. I don't think Togashi's only reason for putting in him on the ship was so that he could help recruiting go smoothly, and I hope he goes with the main expedition team as expected. This could be of huge help for his development.
The reason why I want Kurapika to be there with them as well is because I want to see their relationship to develope more. They obvsly care for eachother but imo their friendship could be more polished than it is. What I originally thought was that Leorio could be the light that Kurapika needs just like how gon was to killua and how killua was to gon when he was sick and mentally unstable. But I think Woble is kinda doing that already so idk what Togashi is planning for those two, or if there is any plan at all.
As for Ging, he was clearly set up to be the main guy in DC imo. I could be wrong but i think his conversation with Gon at the end of the anime was an indication for that.
Ofc there would be other parties involved like the rest of the zodiacs, Beyond's team or maybe even some PT survivors, Hisoka could survive too. Illumi is also there and i don't think he'll die.
ofc all these ramblings would be pointless if hxh manga never finishes anyway. I wish Togashi the best.

Analysis/Theory Princes nen beasts
Correct if im wrong but non of princes nen beast have a power that kills directly, i know that they are "programmed" to not attack directly another prince, but isn't that weird that given the twisted personality of some princes none of their nen beast have a power to directly murder.

Help/Question What do non-nen users see in Heavens Arena?
Okay so to start off, I know this question has been discussed before on this thread but the last post I saw was over a year ago so I wanted to see what people think now.
Essentially what I want to know is: what do the non-nen users see in the heavens arena battles? I feel like I remember that before you unlocked your nen potential you could not see aura, like at all. The most killua felt around illumi in the exam was essentially a powerful presence or like malice. And when Gon and Killua tried to get to the 200th floor they couldn't see the aura hisoka put out i believe. To me it seemed like hisokas presence/nem was just visually represented for the reader/viewer, even though Gon and Killua had no idea why they couldn't move forward. To this end, when conjurers make things like castros double, can non-nen users even see the double at all? And yes I know the announcer said that she could see two of them. But what I am getting at is does the portrayal of nen really make sense with what we are told about nen? And can normies understand what is happening visually even if they don't understand how it is done?
This doesn't just occur in heavens arena though. I feel like I remember some Ants pre-royal guard not understanding what the energy from humans was and being unable to see or counter it. It has been a while since I read the manga and I am just rewatching the anime for the 5th time and it came to mind.
Edit: thank you all for your answers. I think the question I was trying to ask has been solved. I guess I didn't realize that nen manifested as physical objects. It makes sense. I guess that if someone watched hisokas fight then they would have no idea what is happening but for someone who summoned or manipulated physical objects then they could see. Thank you for all the answers again. I think i was always under the impression that nen abilities were all aura and the depiction of them was just there to help the viewer/reader understand what is going on.

Discussion Trying to remember a quote
It's from the Phantom Troupe arc where Killua is addressing Gon, he says something along the lines of "My father fought a spider once! He said it wasn't even worth his time, that's the nicest thing my father said about anyone!"
Can't remember it for the life of me.

Discussion Hisoka and Post Mortem Nen Spoiler
I might be completely wrong here but this is just my understanding of what actually happened in a more logical way so I'm interested to here your takes regarding this.
Lots of people are saying that this version of Hisoka, the post mortem Hisoka is stronger than ever and they're hyping him up so much but honestly, I don't think this is totally correct.
What happened to Hisoka is probably cardiac arrest, which necessarily doesn't mean death unless rigor mortis starts to set in, people CAN get revived with CPR after cardiac arrest. So what I think happened here is that Hisoka's will to live was so strong that his bungee gum gave him a CPR when he was on the brink of death. That's the only application of post mortem nen here, the gum restarting his heart and lungs.
I don't think ( as far as I remember ) we've seen a character legit die ( like die die ) and come back to life other than Camilla, and even that requires a sacrifice of another life for her to drink that aura/weird juice that the cat produces after crushing her victim.
So Hisoka getting a buff because of that is highly unlikely and what we've seen from him after reviving ( using gum as prosthetic limbs ) doesn't mean that he couldn't that before. It could've been an application of bungee that we haven't seen before or basically he became more flexible with using the gum's abilities with more training and conditions, just like Chrollo modified Skill Hunter with the book mark with some annoying conditions.
