🎨 /u/ Community The first 5 minutes of the F1 movie was a better advertisement for IMSA and GT racing then the remaining 2 hours for F1. Seeing the 911 GT3R in action with this beautiful blue striped livery made me want to illustrate it, so here we go.

Some photos I took at VIR on Sunday
Happy the weather held out, was worried leading up that we'd catch a storm.

Looking for some feedback on a non-profit motorsport idea
Hey all,
I’d love to get some feedback on an idea we’ve been working on. The concept is a community-backed summer camp for young people that introduces them to every area of motorsport, not just driving.
For the first camp, about 20 kids (15-19) from all around the world would be flown in (free of charge);
Over the course of a week, they would learn about physical and mental preparation, content creation and journalism, engineering, team management, and the flow of a real race weekend, guided by people with experience in each field. The goal is to make motorsport more accessible and show the next generation that there are many paths into the sport, not only through racing itself.
To finance it, we are considering running a charity raffle where fans could win donated items like team merchandise or memorabilia, making it a project supported by the wider motorsport community.
Does this sound like something that would resonate? I’d really appreciate any thoughts or feedback :)
Early steps have already been made, like partnering up with an existing well-run non-profit, etc.
Thank you <3

Thank you everyone who gave advice and input on this, we had a blast and hope to attend next year but camp at VIR. Here are some photos my boyfriend took in the paddock area.

❔ Question What are the closest margins of victory in each class(current and/or past)?

❔ Question Whatever happened to Crucial Motorsports
Once was a competitor in GT4 and GT3 racing in IMSA competing with McLaren. All of the sudden they just disappeared. What happened?

F1 fan going to IMSA RA next year
Big F1 fan (put the pitchforks away) but love motorsports in general. I'll be going to RA next year, and bringing the family.
We are thinking of camping on site? Is it worth doing that? What are the views like? Easy to find a spot to hang out with 2 young kids? (3 and 1 by the time of the race next year).
Looking forward to it!

Sand bags
Hindaugh: “And I presume that they’ll pick up the sand bags as well to make sure they don’t cause a problem”
… track worker ignores the sand bags and drives away.
Murray Walker couldn’t have done it better.

These Mustang liveries just don't miss.
Regardless of which team runs it in which championship, they look equally striking.

Pit road camera work
I'm sorry to hop in here and complain, but the camera work on pit road is utterly obnoxious. I'm certain that the cameramen interfere with the crew, and production puts the cameramen in danger by having them run around on a hot pit road, all for shots that are jarring to follow and provide no value at all to the viewer.

This is a shot from yesterday's VIR race. Why does NBC feel like we need a GoochCam™ to get a close up look at the grille? Then we gotta run down the car and shove the lens right into the fueler's face like we've never seen someone pump gas before.
