That would have been nice but there was way too much cross traffic to risk your safety.

Running the light wasn’t exactly the better choice. Don’t beat yourself up. The best you could have done is leave your information to the wronged individual

yeah after getting my first dash cam I realized quality is everything. If you can't see plates in the video its not even worth it.

I disagree. If it shows that you were not the person who caused an accident when the other driver maintains you were, then even older dashcams can be invaluable.

100%. Dash cams are for CYA and anyone who’s ever had to deal with their insurance knows why.

I two accidents with a dash cam fault was determined in hours. No arguing or statements or third party insurances.

how do you hold them accountable if you don't know the license plate?

I think they are saying that if you have a crash and both cars pull over but the other person starts lying, your old dashcam will be useful. But not necessarily in a hit and run. Although it’s still good for make/model/color and other details that could narrow it down.

Give PD a copy of the video, there's enough damage on the vehicle which should help PD locate the vehicle and with any luck the front bumper will fall off with the front plate intact.

It appears that the front plate of the car is what's dangling from the truck as the car drives-off.

Not everything is life is holding someone accountable in the eyes of the law.
The difference is: who is the insurance going to believe in an accident?
If a car reverses into you as part of some sort of insurance scam, the plates are irrelevant - all that matters for insurance purposes is who hit who.
Even old dash cams can supply that information.

Not my place to hold anyone else accountable, i have the camera to keep myself accountable and show insurance how i drove.
