  • "I had my blinker on"

  • "Learn to let people merge"

  • "You were obviously speeding/reckless driving"

  • "I was in front so I had the right of way."

  • "Didn't you see me slowing down?"

  • "Pay attention to other cars on the road!"

  • "What else was I supposed to do to get across all those lanes to take my left turn?"

  • "You're at fault because I drive perfectly!"

Pick your poison for what the driver's excuse was. Or add your own!

The fact that they just full on committed to the lane change despite being honked at implies to me that it was this kinda driver rather than someone who simply "forgot" to check their blind spot.

  • "I don't have a blind spot, you just snuck up on me!"

Driver's excuse? These sound like your average takes in /r/idiotsincars.

I see your user name is inspired by this sub.

People keeps forgetting the standard Reddit fallback reason: cammer's fault.

Yup, they'll either accuse cammer of 'lingering in the other car's blind spot' or say 'the cammer should've seen it coming and slowed down much earlier.'

I've seen people incorrectly argue that defensive driving will essentially make you immune to all collisions. It certainly can minimize them, but the only way to avoid them all is to never drive again.

First sign you had an idiot driver in front of you: They merge and immediately brake.

Possibly... in fairness he was coming off an interstate offramp into an intersection

In Oregon we have the opposite problem. Merging into 55+ mph highways at 25-40 mph and taking about a minute or two to get up to speed. Absolutely no exaggeration.

Almost the same effect, though.

"The other driver came outta nowhere". This always means, without fail, that the person wasn't paying attention.

If only they had tried their dumb stunt in front of that police suv… then this would be r/convenientcop.
