OC [OC] Clueless woman runs red, ruins my car and my day. Everyone's fine

u/HobbesNJ 8h ago
Not even recently changed... just solid red. And no slowing or anything, just straight into the intersection. I don't even know how people let themselves be that distracted.

I don't even know how people let themselves be that distracted.
They don't know either. Nothing is in their brain. All rotted from phone.

I'm also seriously starting to wonder if COVID causes long-term drain bamage. It would explain so much of the last five years.

I’ll raise you, something is in the water and everyone who doesn’t filter it for the last hmmm, FOREVER (since lead pipes at least) has the rot! 🙄here’s lookin at you lead🤨

u/Top-Permit6835 4h ago
Not water. Air. Leaded gasoline wasn't fully phased out until the late 90s. Still in use in various countries across the world until 2021

u/CorrectCombination11 1h ago
Leaded fuel is still used in small aircrafts. So if you live near a small airport, you are breathing in lead.

Good news now you can buy a blue caboose to drive?
54
u/BlueCaboose42 8h ago
Unfortunately i don't think you can drive a caboose, they vibe in the back safe from collisions lol

Just casually blowing through a red light without a care in the fucking world... I'd love to know what the idiot told OP and/or the cops who showed up to make the accident report.

u/Stock412 8h ago
Did she admit fault?
121
u/BlueCaboose42 8h ago
I left an explanation in a comment on a cross post to my local sub, short version is the cops said she admitted she ran it, and i showed him this footage on site. Everyone knows it's her fault

dashcams are necessary these days. If you don't have one, spend the money now otherwise it'll cost you a lot more later.

...well, your car's gonna need a moment or two, I think 🚗💥🚙
20
u/BlueCaboose42 7h ago
Genuinely bummed about that. That car made it cross country and across a lot of big moments in my adult life, almost payed off too. Damn shame.

Do you already own Cheshire Cat? Because that’s a classic.
4
u/BlueCaboose42 7h ago
Lol I dont actually, spotted it today tho. I generally dont pick up physicals unless the i REALLY love the album. Cheshire smacks to be sure, but it's pretty low in the tier list for me relative to their other work. As a drummer myself, Scott's work just doesnt do it for me
Im a weird blink fan tho, I'm one of those freaks that thinks neighborhoods is one of their best

u/oresearch69 7h ago
He’s no Travis, that’s for sure. But as someone who grew up with them, I can appreciate their jank as well, lol

u/The_Cozy_Burrito 8h ago
Surprised this dumbass made it this far in life. Good thing you have a dashcam, really saves a lot of time and trouble 👍🏻

u/A_Lone_Macaron 7h ago
saw this on /r/Rochester first and was about to come tell you to post this here too lol

u/Upnorth4 5h ago
This is why I have started to drive through intersections with my foot off the gas and hovering over the brake pedal

u/GOTisnotover77 2h ago
Did you speed the video up? They are obviously at fault, but it also looks like you were speeding.
2
u/dano-d-mano 42m ago
Are you familiar with that intersection? Did you see a speed limit sign? What is the speed limit?
-68
u/dano-d-mano 8h ago
Interesting that the car in front of you that went into the left lane was able to avoid the accident no problem.
Did you consider using your brakes?
43
u/TweakJK 8h ago
Well no shit, they had an unprotected left and there was a car coming.
Did you watch the video? Do you come to a complete stop for any and all intersections?

u/idiotsinthecomments 7h ago
These fucking idiots know no bounds.
Every single post is just a game of "how can I blame OP today?".

Who blamed the OP?

Thanks for the link, and for clarifying your deficiencies in your screen name. I'm sorry about your reading interpretation/comprehension issues.

u/BlueCaboose42 8h ago
You mean the car that was turning left? And came to a stop before the Toyota is even visible? Before you ask, she was a witness to the accident, I know for a fact she was turning left.
-32
u/dano-d-mano 7h ago
The car turning left without a signal? Yeah that's the one I'm referring to.
The car you hit was visible for 5 seconds before you made contact. You slowed 6 mph in that time, likely not even slowing on purpose. I'm guessing you were distracted at least some of that time looking at the passenger you were having the conversation with, considering she had to tell you to watch out.
34
u/BlueCaboose42 7h ago
A: dash cams have a much wider field of view than humans, thats the point B: not distracted at all. Thankfully I've got internal cabin footage as well in case insurance wants to try to make the same braindead argument. Both of us were looking directly at the road, she just happened to spot it just barely quicker than I had, not as if that matters since even her spotting it sooner likely wouldn't have produced any better of an outcome.
Politely fuck off

u/muffinscrub 5h ago
I actually enjoy reading the bad takes people have for some reason.
It's pure entertainment.
Hope you're ok OP. That looked pretty rough.

u/daviepancakes 2h ago
I like to watch the video while I try to imagine what our resident lunatics might have blessed us with this time, and then click controversial and have a look. I'm getting pretty good at it.
I'd make a drinking game of it if I weren't reasonably confident I'd fucking die.
-23
u/dano-d-mano 7h ago
Actually, your camera has a 150° field of view. Human FOV is typically greater than 180°, and you should be scanning the road (especially at intersections) for potential danger.
I politely ask you to check your facts prior to posting, and make it a habit to drive defensively.
FWIW, I never said you were to blame for the accident, however it is possible you could have prevented it. Sorry you had to deal with an accident, glad everyone was okay.

u/Downtown_Island8124 7h ago
Are you the fzckers always press the brake even though there are nothing in front of you but just in case some shits fall on the sky so you constantly breaking to make your life interesting?!

u/JackFunk 7h ago
I can remember when trolling meant something
14
u/noncongruent 6h ago
Trolling in the old days had artistry, had some construction skill, and had a point. Now they just come into a room and shit all over everything as though more shit equals better troll.

u/Poagie_Mahoney 2h ago
In case you can't figure out why you got all the downvotes:
That car in front of the OP going into the left lane was actually waiting to turn left. As they only had a regular green light and not a green turning arrow, they were already yielding to oncoming traffic. So they were going to be at a standstill even if there was no red light runner going across.
