Korean Instant Noodles Buldak & Ghost Pepper Wings = Burning Tummy

Post image

I don’t recommend pairing them 😳 I prepped my tummy with yakult and it still burns like crazy. I had to take tummy medicine, and even so the burning still continued for few hours~

I love hot and spicy food; but I’d say if you have to prep your stomach with yakult and then follow up with (pepto bismol) - that’s TOO damn hot.

Tbh I’d be worried if my stomach actually felt like it was burning? Not mouth/ throat? Perhaps seek medical advice if it doesn’t go relatively soon 👍🏻

That's totally normal with extreme levels of spicy to get extremely painful/uncomfortable stomach cramps that could be described as burning or stabbing. They can last all night if you overdo with eating fresh superhots, sauces with capsaicin extract or large amounts of otherwise highly-concentrated superhots, etc. No need to see a doc about it; it will pass on its own.

Stomach can develop or lose tolerance as well just like tongue/mouth. For some people this can happen even just from something like Buldak 2x if they don't regularly consume hot stuff. Others who have developed a higher tolerance will be good until they do something crazy like eat a bunch of chicken completely dusted in straight up reaper powder. And that can be the same person going up and down that scale depending on how regularly they're eating hot stuff.

Fair enough; I have a reasonable chilli tolerance but don’t really mess about with the more extreme reaper, naga chillis etc - or there concentrated varieties. I don’t understand how people can enjoy it really, or whether it’s a macho thing?

People who haven't built tolerance doing it are either doing it for the endorphin rush or a macho thing or to get views on the internet or something. For many people though it's just the natural progression as our tolerance increases and need more and more to feel the same rush. Like drugs.

Agree to an extent; I’ve enjoyed a chilli and/ or spice kick for decades. I probably can tolerate a bit more heat than I used to, but don’t feel the need to push boundaries - certainly not for macho points or insta views. There’s always someone who can go hotter than yourself - Thai people for one, seem to have it in their blood. That being said - the average food was bloody hot in Chennai..

I'm using myself as a reference I guess because I used to cap out at habanero but have no problems topping a pizza with fresh reaper and scorpion slices now. A while ago a friend gave me this Ancho Masala Scorpion Reaper sauce because it was too hot for him. It was too hot for me as well and sat untouched in my fridge for a year or so. Then one day I just got a really strong craving for some extreme heat on my tacos and put that sauce on them. I was on fire but I just kept finding myself wanting it more and more. Before I knew it, it was just a normal level of heat for me.

Similar happened when I started growing habaneros one year and then was gifted a scorpion plant and a reaper plant which terrified me. I didn't think I wanted them but I had them so I gave it a shot. Turns out the sauces had brought my tolerance up enough to where I actually enjoyed those peppers and started putting them on everything.

I love hot wings, well hot sauce in general I guess but hate hate hate the taste of ghost pepper, it is revolting. That noodle prep looks ridiculously on point btw, very appealing.

Thankyou! Understandable haha. The first wing was alright and the heat intensity kicks up as I eat 🥵

Putting it on my stomach helps abit 🥰

Did you have anything else in your stomach besides yakult? Too much superhot stuff never sits well in an otherwise empty stomach for me even if I drink something like that first.

My morning coffee only! Maybe thats why 😱

Yeah you needed more other foods in there to soak that stuff up.

I hope your tummy is feeling better. I was going to say that I think you’d need more than one bottle of Yakult 😅

Give it about 12 hours stomach issues will seem tame in comparison.

I love your posts keep them up❤️ which buldak is this and how did you prep it? Been on a buldak kick myself lately haha, trying to keep it to once a week but its hard lol

Thankyou 💕 This is the original buldak black :) I cook the noodle first in a pot. When I drain the water I make sure to leave 3-5 spoonful of liquid and mix with the buldak sauce. Transfer to microwaveable plate. I leave some sauce in the pot because microwave is next and will dry out the noodles. Slap your favourite cheese on the noodle and microwave for 1min.. After cheese is melted I drizzle the leftover sauce in the pot to the noodles to rehydrate my noodles.

If you are eating out of a pan/pot tho: It is much easier. Just cook normally, and leave about 2-3 spoonful liquid when draining, mix in the sauce, slap cheese, cover lid for 30seconds.
