Korean Instant Noodles Buldak & Ghost Pepper Wings = Burning Tummy

I don’t recommend pairing them 😳 I prepped my tummy with yakult and it still burns like crazy. I had to take tummy medicine, and even so the burning still continued for few hours~

Agree to an extent; I’ve enjoyed a chilli and/ or spice kick for decades. I probably can tolerate a bit more heat than I used to, but don’t feel the need to push boundaries - certainly not for macho points or insta views. There’s always someone who can go hotter than yourself - Thai people for one, seem to have it in their blood. That being said - the average food was bloody hot in Chennai..

I'm using myself as a reference I guess because I used to cap out at habanero but have no problems topping a pizza with fresh reaper and scorpion slices now. A while ago a friend gave me this Ancho Masala Scorpion Reaper sauce because it was too hot for him. It was too hot for me as well and sat untouched in my fridge for a year or so. Then one day I just got a really strong craving for some extreme heat on my tacos and put that sauce on them. I was on fire but I just kept finding myself wanting it more and more. Before I knew it, it was just a normal level of heat for me.

Similar happened when I started growing habaneros one year and then was gifted a scorpion plant and a reaper plant which terrified me. I didn't think I wanted them but I had them so I gave it a shot. Turns out the sauces had brought my tolerance up enough to where I actually enjoyed those peppers and started putting them on everything.

I also probably stop at a habanero; but can understand the appeal, again - to an extent. When I’ve hit the chilli hard I do like the “recovery” phase (if you can call it that), my breathing feels extra clear and just generally refreshed. But who knows, if I get access to better growing facilities (many a greenhouse), I’d consider growing some regular but also some killer varieties. I assume they more easy enough to grow from seed? And you can use seeds from commercially obtained fresh chillis? (As opposed to buying a bag of seeds for growing)

I didn't have much luck growing from seed but I've never grown anything from seed and made a lot of mistakes and am generally not a very experienced gardener. The already started plants did alright though, just gotta give them enough space.

To be clear, at no point did I ever try or even want to pop a whole reaper or scorpion pod into my mouth. I remove the seeds/placenta and then slice into strips and use it like that. My mouth could probably handle it but my stomach has a really hard time with seeds. In general it seems that stomach lags behind when building tolerance, which is frustrating. It definitely can catch up though and if you're not pushing the limits for your mouth too hard too fast then you probably won't get into the territory of crazy unbearable cramps like OP got, but maybe just a little extra gas/discomfort on occasion. I know where that limit is for myself and how to avoid it or how to deal with it if I just really really really wanna try something anyways (like the hottest Nashville hot chicken because I knew I probably wasn't going back to Nashville again).
