For Context:

  • As a sitting president, Herzog likely will have absolute immunity from any arrests or prosecutions in the UK, as a result we may likely not see anything immediately from this.
  • We have seen similar situations where attempts to pursue Israeli and other foreign officials in UK courts were blocked by the government as they cite immunity or “public interest.”
  • But just because they enjoy immunity, SO15 are still required to log ICJP’s complaint and acknowledge the receipt of ICJP's complaint. Which may lead to them to begin collecting and keeping evidence for records or future use.
  • This is a good distinction to make because ICJP is not asking for Herzog's arrest but for him to be investigated and an investigation does not infringe on his immunity.
  • More critically it opens for him to be arrested in the future when he leaves office in 3-4 years time, as he is expected to leave office in 2028.
  • What Herzog now needs to consider is that if he steps foot in the UK, this may trigger SO15's internal procedure to begin investigations and open a case on him.

    • Many people have stopped donating to Gaza aid organizations because they realized the aid they paid for is stuck in Egypt, Jordan or even rotting in Israel because of the IDF's refusal to distribute aid.
    • In such cases, the money and aid is wasted and for many this is a disgusting example of a war crime. Where aid, that is ready to go and feed people who need them, is left rotting under the sun.
    • As a result many people have started donating to these lawyer groups, whose goal is to use their country's internal legal systems to prevent the ease of travel for Israeli Terrorists/Politicians accused of genocide.
    • ICJP is one of such lawyer groups and through the efforts of such lawyer groups, these groups notably were able to have two IDF members detained in Belgium back in late July 2025.
