Kaitrin Snodgrass is a storyboard revisionist on the show, and she was recently asked if specifically if this mark was gay and gave confirmation.

Personally I've feel it makes logical sense that in the infinite multiverse that there are versiond of you that have different sexualities and backgrounds, and it gives us much more depth to each variant aside " he's mark but evil". Remember as always guys this is for fun discussion and nothing else.

When he said he missed William I never thought about him being gay just that he really missed his best friend, guess this adds way more context now.

Yeah, kinda want to know more about every variant that's on the show and that means the writers did something good. Overall I'm pretty pleased to the minor changes they are making so pacing and characters motivations can have a bigger impact. Knowing there's a gay mark, or morally conflicted mark out there is pretty fun (mohawk mark is still my goat, love how much of an asshole he is lmao)

I think the 8 Invincibles left were the strongest ones from the variants.

Pretty sure Sinister Mark is the strongest tho, since he apparently killed Omni-man of his universe.

I mean it kind of suggests that the William of his universe died so he wants Angstrom to take him to one where he isn't dead. I'd say that adds quite a bit, actually.

Replace William with amber again and it goes the exact same way. Being gay adds nothing to the character besides appealing to the lgtv community. Doesnā€™t matter if he is or isnā€™t

I think they did it on purpose if you think about it it was a great addition to the show because it gives us some subtle depth this Marks universe itā€™s pretty cool but doesnā€™t need to be announced like that lol

I love how complex each one of them are. A huge problem with the "evil alternate universe self" trope in comic books is that usually there's very little depth to these characters besides "has the same backstory and powers as the protagonist but chose evil instead", with some exceptions like DC's Owlman.

Near the end of Ben 10, something similar happens where the main villain gathers a team of evil Bens. And some of them are different characters with different backstories.

And one of them is just ā€˜Bad Benā€™. Heā€™s exactly the same in every way except heā€™s an asshole

It suggests significance behind what is about to be said, as in the speaker is preparing. That's the feeling I got from it, more weight behind the words when it's more measured.

Maybe itā€™s because queer but thatā€™s immediately where my mind went, I could feel the pain and longing in his voice. Steven Yeun did such an amazing job making each of the variants feel so believable and unique.

While I don't hate the depiction, I do wish that media could show two men being close enough friends without everyone assuming they're gay.

It seeks women can do this but as soon as men do, it's seen as unmanly enoigh for it to be Gay.
