Yeah, it’s rough. A bunch of evil versions of you show up, kill a bunch of people, kills your work buddy, Conquest shows up, kills more people, almost kills your girlfriend and brother, tells you your dad’s dead and then gives you an ass whopping

And then on top of that you are forced to kill yet another living-being, this time knowing how important it will be for you to always kill these types of villains moving forward and the burden that carries too.

…honestly I just kinda groaned at that.

I do understand in a sense why they decided to write things this way…but honestly, it just felt like the entire season was thematically building up to just rehashing what Mark should’ve learned at the end of the season 2 finale.

Like this is literal life or death, the fate of you, your family, and your entire planet…it’s just really frustrating to think that Mark had to go through all this pain and suffering again just to fully realize what he has to do.

The whole crux of Mark's character is that he is this incredibly compassionate, emotional and moral person that suddenly has to deal with not only the real world, but also the literal worst, most fucked up scenarios possible.

It's that interplay between who Mark wishes he could be, and the person he has to be ("being the good guys" vs. "saving the world") that makes his character so interesting. Especially when they hint to how in danger Mark is of swinging too far to the other side, whenever they speak of future versions of him
