He might have an issue with something that's on weed and not in the things he's eaten idk man, this is purely speculation to understand how could a weed overdose work on an alien.

You can overdose on weed, in the sense of having so much it stops being therapeutic/recreational and makes you extremely ill.

It's just basically never lethal or permanently damaging outside of combination with other drugs, unlike... Pretty much every other drug.
