Discussion Upcoming JRPGs to keep an eye out for

I am trying to compile a list of upcoming JRPGs in the next 6 months or so, so far I have:

Digimon Story Time Strangers

Pokemon Legends ZA

Dq I & II HD-2D

Trails in the Sky FC remake

Octopath Traveler 0

Tales of Xillia Remaster

Atelier Ryza Trilogy DX

Ys X Proud Nordic

Quartet

Anything notable that I am missing? Trying to get my wallet ready for this, JRPGs are so back.

Man at this point the wallet is not even the problem, how can we play so many good to amazing rpgs in such a short amount of time

As someone whose been playing them for years, it's almost impossible to have time to play them all (Especially if you're some who works and has family responsibilities). You just have to figure out which ones you want to play the most and focus on those.

I’ve learned to appreciate a short-mid length RPG so much. I love games like Persona or Xenoblade but damn being able to finish Clair Obscur in ~30 hours was so refreshing.

Atelier and FF are definite buys for me, that's about it.

Cute of you to think Decapolice will come in the next 6 months! (Please come out)

I saw the comment and immediately checked online to see if I missed some kind of announcement. Zero updates since last year when they said it was delayed to 2026.

Trails Beyond the Horizon is coming January next year as well. Should keep it in radar if you follow the series.

Not a full release but there is a Demo coming for Alabaster Dawn. Given how good CrossCode is this should be something to keep an eye on.

Threads Of Time

Kingdoms Of The Dump

Forge Of Fae

u/kalypto21 1d ago

I have not heard about any of these, but they seem right up my alley

I love indie games, also check out Demonschool!

I did the Kickstarter for Forge of the Fae but I keep forgetting about it until I see someone mention it

1

u/ThexHoonter 19h ago

That's cool, thank you for it, looks really good!

u/Ocilla 1d ago

Didn’t Forge of the Fae already release?

Quartet is already out!

Dev has been super active on the forums, already fixing some minor issues here and there, already added a turbo button and hard mode. Give it a go and support great indie teams!

Kingdoms of the Dump and Demonschool are some of the other ones on my indie-JRPG watchlist.

I do want to hear more about this to the moon one with the weird name also. "The Last Hour of an Epic TO THE MOON RPG"

I totally missed the release date,I have been out of the loop while traveling, been using only Reddit when taking the train. I need to get it on my Steam Deck once I'm back

1

u/Stoibs 17h ago

Awww.. you missed out on the best opportunity to play the train prologue while on a train!

u/kalypto21 17h ago

I would not hear the end if it from my wife if I brought my Steam Deck with me on the trip😅

It's a bit more niche, but Class of Heroes 3 is FINALLY coming to the west next week!

Oh and Alzara radiant echoes

Suikoden star leap

u/kalypto21 1d ago

I just hope the gatcha elements on Stat Leap are not required for normal gameplay, cause I absolutely hate gatcha.

DEmonschool. One that looks like Persona 1 and 2.

u/Takemyfishplease 1d ago

I’m convinced Deca isn’t coming out ever and it’s just a laundering operation.

2

u/kalypto21 1d ago

I feel like it's vaporware too

u/Snowvilliers7 18h ago

You left out Atelier Resleriana coming out in a few weeks and Trails Beyond the Horizon in January

1

u/shoeboxchild 1d ago

World of Anterra

One Fenix Down

Lost Hellden

Disc creatures world

Aegis force: the scorian war

And then what everyone else said in this thread haha

u/Avwurm 1d ago

One thing to note is atelier and trails games tend to not go on sale. In fact they tend to sell out and increase in value. So I'm picking up those first. The rest to follow.

Persona 4 Remake (Let me dream)

2

u/iamalab 1d ago

Game holds up fine today, but lord knows Atlas would add more content

2

u/BaconWrappedEnigmas 1d ago

Oh I love golden, just making the joke that the remake would come out in 6 months since they revealed it a few months ago lol

4

u/iamalab 1d ago

How in the hell did I miss that announcement? Thanks man lol

2

u/BaconWrappedEnigmas 21h ago

You’re welcome! It’s probably gonna be a few years off unfortunately lol

I am most excited for Octo 0.

Indie JRPGs would be cool to

2

u/Mikey-Insanity 1d ago

If you want to learn about upcoming Indie JRPGs, YouTube channel The Gaming Shelf hosted a showcase of them a few months ago. https://youtu.be/4S-xXQTH_DA?si=h3I7GChlQz9nrSgf

Quartet seems to be the only one worth rest I have no interest in if I want to play Tales of Xillia I will play the original I don’t trust remasters

I’m avoiding these big triple A JRPG looking for more AA or Indie and a lot of these companies I don’t trust

2

u/Ocilla 1d ago

Isn’t Quartet out already?

0

u/Elrothiel1981 1d ago

Could be idk

Ok just checked Steam It Is out already

0

u/losethen96 1d ago

Interesting, so you think Trails in the Sky FC Remake & Ys X Proud Nordics are Triple A and not AA games?

0

u/Elrothiel1981 1d ago

Well after NIS had that video before trails of cold steel III came out on their live stream they just got added to the list and my stance with remakes is play the original skip the remakes

1

u/losethen96 1d ago

Well NIS has nothing to do with the Sky FC Remake.

-2

u/Elrothiel1981 1d ago

I know I just got a funny feeling it will have the same problems I dislike so it’s a wait and see but don’t have high hopes at least I have the original
