II Randy and Valimar Rean. But i did all the trainings how comes i don't have these 2? Any help would be most appreciated 🙏🏻

It seems like the Mana series isn’t as successful as it once was. While it may not have been as famous as its parent series, the Final Fantasy games, it still had its fans. However, it appears that, until fairly recently, the Mana series has lost both its popularity and success. Can anyone explain why the Mana series declined in popularity?

So, you know when great JRPGs where the main story is influenced by certain relationships with characters ( Listen up P5 royal ending), well I want something similar to that.

I play on PC mainly and I love great stories, gameplay wise Im not looking strictly at jrpgs but usually coming from playing P5 royal, im planning to go for metaphor and P3 reload next.

Im looking at suikoden, but Im not sure if this fits the bill.

I have a friend who played Expedition 33 recently and fell in love with it gameplay included so what are other turn based jrpgs that he might like, the difficult part is he dislikes anime tropes a lot he doesnt mind the art style but something like Persona wont do probably because of how “anime” it is i was thinking SMTVV or Metaphor instead (thinking of atlus due to complex and in depth combat systems but other systems would do) was thinking of Yakuza LaD too. Any suggestion is welcome

I really love the design, visuals, vibe, and lore of Zenless Zone Zero. The game's setting is a perfect fit for me — colorful urban fantasy (or urban sci-fi idk.)

But the gacha mechanics are so annoying. Tons of consumables, boosters, different currencies, endless messages in the mailbox, online, or notebook, and always running between NPCs with long, pointless dialogues. And all of it just for rolls and donate. I feel like I'm wasting my time and not really enjoying the game.

But I still haven't found any games with a world design on the same level. The only similar one I know is Dusk Diver 2, but I'm not sure about its combat system (feels more like a musou game than a regular action game). I'm worried it'll get boring. I'm open to any kind of combat, just not this time.

Does anyone know any other games with a similar setting? Platforms: PS5, NSW.

I just had to get this matter off my chest because when it comes to JRPGs, one of my favorite things in the genre to do is to experiment with ways to exploit the game as what happens is that a party member will end up being the most useful, provided the player knows how to make use of the tricks to enhance their capabilitiers.

For instance, while I do gush about Disgaea here a lot, I just want to give a shoutout to the second game yet again because I have been experimenting with my ninja and Space Knight classes because having just finished promoting my ninja guy I haven't used in so long, it turns out that he is one of the best units for going through Item World in the Land of Carnage because after boosting his Speed stats so much, he cannot be hurt as hardly any enemy can even touch him, and just to be safe, I gave him a fully upgraded Super Robot Suit so that even if an enemy gives him a direct hit, the armor will still protect him from getting killed, thanks to its high defense stats.

Suikoden II is one of my big 3 when it comes to favorite JRPGS. The other 2 are Star Ocean 2 and Wild Arms. But getting to the point, my endgame party when I was a kid was: 1. Hero 2. Shin 3. Ellie 4. Freed Y 5. Georg Prime 6. Sasuke. (Nanami was in my party almost to the end)

I've been looking for a new JRPG to spend some time on. They both look very cool, but id like some other opinions since i dont want to spend money on something ill regret. Any opinions are greatly appreciated, dont be afraid to go all out and criticize the games if you think they deserve the criticism. They both look very interesting but sadly i cant afford both. I just read a thread on Resetera where a topic was made with new info on octopath traveler 0 where one of the tidbits said just this, that about 30-40% of the main story is new. I do not understand what this means. I know its based off the mobile game, so does this mean 60% of the mobile's game's main story will be in octopath 0? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I have played most of Tales games, The world ends with you, scarlet nexus, god eater, code vein, Dragon's dogma,.hack series, Final fantasy 15, final fantasy 7 remakes, star ocean 2, Nier, Yakuza series, Trails of mana, YS 7-10(my favorite). Chinese action rpg games are welcome too. Gujian 3 and Xuan Yuan sword 7 are the only two I've played. I am really aching to play more!

I’m thinking about purchasing Bravely Default Flying Fairy for Nintendo Switch 2 but I’m curious how difficult it is.

For context, I had Bravely Default 2 on the Switch and I played on easy mode and it was STILL extremely difficult, I quit after 20 or so hours.

I play many JRPG’s (it’s my fav genre) but I don’t like endless grinding. My favorite series’s are FF, Lunar, Grandia and Persona.

I bought the first Trails game during a steam sale a few years ago but it sat in my backlog, and then when the remake got announced I decided to wait on it until that came out.

Now that the remake is coming out in 13 days, I'm planning on picking it up pretty quickly and I'm curious about how I should move forward with the rest of the trilogy. 2 and 3 are all but confirmed and they're likely at minimum a year away apart from each other, but I'm really curious about what people recommend or what others who are starting with this game plan to do.

I was originally planning on buying the other two games during a sale and continuing on, but with fatigue of playing all three games back to back and Kondo basically confirming that they plan on moving to the other games I'm not sure what to do anymore :(

As you can see the majority of them are Japanese version. I decided to get the JP version of Wild Arms because I like the cover a little more. Just incase the text are too small , the games are ( from upper left) PopoLoCrois, Eithea, Vagrant Story, Shachou Eiyuuden, Velldeselba Senki, Dokioki ( this one isn’t a JRPG, I just think it’s cool), Wild Arms, and Tales of Phantasia.

I’ve included photo to Eithea and Shachou, since I wrote about them previously.

I lucked out on Vagrant Story. Wasn’t too expensive , but does not have the demo disc. The instruction book is there.

Im looking for a jrpg game that is sad but with great gameplay and great story and great cast but the thing is it’s hard to get into games that don’t have Iconic Characters (IP) because I usually target the JRPG games that have familiar characters like Joker, Cloud, Shulk, Hero (DGXI) and something like that (I know you’ve guys seen me play the other games of their series that they don’t appear in but it’s because I got into the series that those characters brought me in and since people like these kinda games that I played, it’s hard to explain). The biggest games that I was super invested in Final fantasy vii and royal, idk why but was invested due to the themes I was interested and more bonded to the cast and story and just beated royal recently which had severe depression after a day beating it but I’m better now. anyways what games do you guys think I ll enjoy? (doesn’t have to be like ff7 and royal and just so you guys know I really enjoyed the other games)

I want the game but don’t really know if I want to play it next because there are others games I want like rdr2, metal gear solid master collection, and others. but anyways I was scrolling on reddit about ff7 since I’m a die hard fan until I encountered a post of someone showing Gustave and Versol photoshopped in ff7 and noticed that scene in ff7 and was trying to reference the aeriths death scene to one of the characters and they didn’t tag it and I already muted 33 in the Reddit channel before I saw it and encountered it. I hate it when people spoil it when they don’t mention the name of the game and I’m somewhat spoiled on what happens to one of them and was also spoiled on YouTube that something bad happens to Gustave’s girlfriend. Should I still play the game?

These both come out soon and I can only get one. I'm interested in both but am having trouble deciding.

My favorite games are the persona games, pokemon, smt Vengeance, final fantasies 2, 5-7, 9, and 10, metaphor, bravely default 2

Games that i thought were okay are bug fables, the other final fantasy games not listed before 10, suikoden 1, sea of stars

I like story, but the gameplay loop needs to be fun, too. I really like the social Sim parts of persona, the job systems of metaphor and bravely, and the sense of adventure of the final fantasy games.

I've played quite a bit of JRPG's, specially Final Fantasy stuff and to be fair i just hated (even if i understood why it happened due to the story and stuff) the fact that sometimes your party separated and idk maybe you were using one part of the group and the other part of the group is still level 4 or something.

Or like when you're just going around, then get into a new chapter out of the sudden like in FF15 and now the game says "Fuck you, you're not seeing those nice grassy hills with 100 remaining quests and things till you beat the game and replay it".

What are your thoughts on these things?

(Sorry this is a bit long) I'm going to preface and I say Xenoblade is my favorite series I've ever played. 1-3 are 10/10 games to me, but some things in X make me a little nervous that I might not like it. First off, I hear the story is a big step down, which was a huge factor of why I love the other games. Another thing is that I hear a lot of the game is side quests. I only do side quests for games I really enjoy, but I avoid them for the most part in RPGs. Hearing that so much is built off them is kinda weird to me, but I'm ok with it if they're really good.I could also talk about how the character design looks pretty bad to me, but I'm certain I'll get used to it. I'm also just afraid that the game will not feel like a Xenoblade game. I know it sounds like I'm all negative, but BOTW/TOTK are two of my favorite games ever because of their world and exploration, two things that people rave about this game, and I'm certain Monolift made a great game here, so I'm torn. I'll play it eventually, but I'm choosing between this or the Trails in the Sky Remake next.

So what else am I missing, I do prefer the re-releases with QoL updates over straight up ports like LoD. Most of these I've already beaten when they originally came out, I'm just trying to recapture my youth, as they say.

Don't mention NEW games or tactical games (no interest in stuff like unicorn overlord or triangle strategy), I am trying to play stuff that came out over a decade ago and is on the PSN so I can get more plats. This is my RPG year and I am 4 away from getting platinum number 800!

I already preordered DQ1+2! I just need something to do until that comes out.

I've been feeling a little down lately, and I'm thinking about exploring a new RPG, but one that's retro inspired. Close to the SNES/PS1 era. I'm waffling between three games. Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, and Quartet. I'm interested in all three of them, and they all look interesting to me. If anyone has any recommendations between those it would be helpful.

OK, first of all, I've played through EX33 for the second time now and the music is still good for the most part, however, during my playthroughs I've noticed numerous massive parallels to JRPG classics, which ultimately devalues ​​the OST considerably for me.

and I'm not talking about the many French vocal pieces, even though they are obviously inspired by Nier and provide a similar immersion and connection to the story.

a lot of EX33 sounds like it could have come from Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Furthermore, one of the best known similarities is Maelle's theme, which is essentially reminiscent of To Zanarkand. It is literally To Zanarkand except for a single chord.

another astonishing similarity is the Gustave track, it sounds melodically very similar to SH2 Promise Reprise which almost sounds like a homage in the chorus

also a world map theme in E33 sounds suspiciously like Compression of Time from FFVIII, it's not entirely obvious but if you know the track well enough the similarity is undeniable, in general I constantly had the feeling during the game that the music not only seemed extremely familiar and familiar to me but the melodies constantly reminded me of a lot of old JRPGs or general Japanese music, and I wanted to know if it's just me or if you also recorded it that way and noticed? On the one hand, it's a good achievement because it really captures the JRPG spirit. On the other hand, I think the OST lacks its own unique style because 90% of the time I'm listening to it, I think of other games.

I'm a bit confused because of this. I recently saw an interview with the composer who literally said "I tried as much as possible not to be inspired" and because of the numerous similarities, I don't believe in coincidences and the composer probably wasn't being entirely honest tbh.

This post isn't criticism or hate, I just want to hear your honest opinions.

edit:: I forgot the most important thing, Bow wow wow by Monoco, it's too random as if it isn't a reference to Rebirth Bow wow wow even if the pieces are very different

Edit 2: Inside the monolith in the snow area (where you can also find the reference to the FF7 logo, the meteor), there is a rare battle theme in two special fights, which basically starts with an unmistakable part of the "let the battle begin" theme. It is not a coincidence but still a nice reference. Unfortunately, the battle theme does not exist in the official OST.

It exists in a slightly modified form in the OST, it is called Monocos Station - Twirling voices, pay attention to the first 15 seconds

I’ve always loved RPGs from Pokémon to Tales to Persona. I went down a rabbit hole learning about Panzer Dragoon Saga and then I saw a local game store got a copy in. I told myself I wouldn’t buy it until they had a sale

5 minutes later they posted on Instagram they were having a 25% off everything sale. I wouldn’t have made it today if I had left work on time, then my manager said I could leave early.

I thought I wouldn’t do anything because this was a ridiculously expensive idea until I saw a customer wearing a Sega Saturn shirt. I believed it to be a sign. I just got home from dinner with a friend and the insane FOMO has made me an owner of a Sega Saturn and Panzer Dragoon Saga
