For Free as the worst is an actual crime.

Best beat…The Blacker the Berry.

8

u/MrThiccemsss 1d ago

for free worst and alright overrated are criminal. alright is the best and for free is minimum top 5 probably top 3

7

u/Top_Canine biggest uu fan 1d ago

people just don’t like a song as much if it’s popular because they want to be different

1

u/Prohypixelgamer 1d ago

Alright isnt the best but its not overrated. Tbf, bone of them are, but alright is closest to it because it has many streams

-4

u/Background-Fix-2209 1d ago

I think Institutionalized is probably most overrated honestly.

5

u/MetalMachineMario 1d ago

Much as I love alright, I think alright was the right pick: for me it’s not in the top five of songs on the album even though it’s one of the album’s most recognized songs.

At the end of the day, it’s all a bit tricky since the whole album’s so great though.

u/Los_Estupidos 1d ago

What would you say is worse?

7

u/Background-Fix-2209 1d ago

I think the album version of I is the “worst”. It’s a perfect album so it’s hard to choose.

For Sale

i, For free is an absolute banger.

2

u/Neotyp 1d ago

For free is the worst for me by a wide margian, but it's still on tpab, so that's like being the poorest billionare

4

u/MealPersonal2301 Am I worth it? Did I put enough work in? 1d ago

"the poorest billionaire" perfect analogy

1

u/Neotyp 1d ago

Thank you, spent all of 2 miniutes coping it from someone esle. I don't remeber who made it first :(

wesley's theory

if the start of hood politics was a full song that would've cleared though

3

u/Upbeat_Mistake_6304 1d ago

Nah save Wesley’s theory for best on the album

1

u/Heavy-Nebula1814 🐱 and Patrón make you feel alright... 1d ago

nah totally agree

17

u/Efficient-Log3834 2d ago

I would've went for Wesley's theory here and  replaced the best with "u"

15

u/SairajOverall 2d ago

"u" is my vote. That aggressive instrumental transitioning to a beat that honestly sounds like it's crying will always hit me. Probably my favorite beat in hip-hop

These walls.

1

u/the_Kell 2d ago

I was gonna say King Kunta, but yeah, These Walls goes

The blacker the Berry

u/mikaeruuu 2d ago

TBTB is a great song but out of all songs in TPAB it probably has the most basic beat. It's just a normal boom bap on a loop.

How much a dollar cost

u/ElectricalWill3 2d ago

Momma never gets enough love on tpab

15

u/ParadeFader 2d ago

I’m so irrationally angry For Free made worst. One of the most objectively wrong takes I’ve ever seen.

5

u/Background-Fix-2209 2d ago

Honestly! It’s a perfect, exciting, ambitious song.

1

u/Neotyp 2d ago

I think it the worst by a pretty wide margian. But that's like being the poorest billionare, you're still rich as fuck.

1

u/goofyphilYT 1d ago

“u” because the beat switch is the equivalent to post nut clarity💔

1

u/T-roll999 1d ago

"i" would be good with a funky beat through out the song and it actually make me feel the same vibe when i listen to "Happy" (ofc this song not by Kenny) or other whise "King Kunta" is a BOP too, this is my personal option because those 2 songs sound good to my ears

1

u/Heavy-Nebula1814 🐱 and Patrón make you feel alright... 1d ago

the blacker the berry cmon now 🙌

1

u/gory314 1d ago

The blacker the berry

For free is the first time I have ever heard someone rap over a beat that was not 4/4 or 3/4. It’s insanely good musically too. Kendrick brought together some incredible musicians, Kamasi Washington, thundercat, Robert Glasper.
