Yep! Went to an interview once where the GM said they have such a hard time finding good people, everyone is flaky and quits after a few weeks. Guess who quit after a few weeks because management was horrible?
This quote really helped me out a few years ago. Turns out I was the asshole. I don't work in kitchens but this sub pops up on my page and I saw this quote. Thanks for the reminder.
This kinda thinking is also how I found out my personality is more of an "acquired taste"
Behavior tends to be very odd and different from most people so some find it extremely offputting till they get to know me, current coworker even told me "when you started i hated you, youre so weird and dont take things seriously! I wanted to know what your problem was. But now I love you! Youre so silly!" Which was a lot less heartwarming than I think she intended it
Late one night, laying awake in bed, oooo a realization came. Are there really assholes every where I look, or am I the one to blame? Maybe I just do not say the things I should say, and do not do the things i ought.
So I took a long hard look at my self in the mirror, and this is what I thought:
“The guy who sold me this mirror's an asshole
He's an asshole, son of a bitch said it was antique.
He was lying, he was lying.
Made me want to punch him in his salesman cheek”
Or there might be 10 assholes out there, who all have the same issues.
If you put in the effort to correct shitty behavior and do what you can but they still persist on being shitty. Are you really the asshole for holding them accountable while they play the victim/no you card.
Easy to blame the MGMT. If every employee comes in and says I left my job because the mgmt was shitty before, and you can't hold down a job. Maybe its not just the MGMT.
I see this in a number of places where I live. My food co-op's deli has a revolving door because someone in management is horrible, but since they have seniority, no one will do anything about it.
So they keep hiring people who can't stand the work environment, who quit, and then they hire more, and I get walnut shells in my pesto.
A few years ago, I was at this place. Worked there for about a year. I was one of their senior workers by the end. I couldn't tell you how many people were in and out of that place in that time. One guy didn't even stay until lunch.
Let’s be real here. A lot of executive chefs are real shitbags. Our previous executive chef that we fired caused us to lose 4 kitchen staff with span of 3 weeks because he fancied himself to be like the Hells Kirchen Gordon Ramsay and he was also quite racist towards black men.

Management: "I don't know what happened. She just went crazy!"
