You should for good jobs that treated you well. Otherwise? Fuck them.

Even those good jobs will drop you faster than yesterday.

If I don't deserve 2 weeks, neither do they.

Well you should if you want to include you worked there on your resume, or else they will not vouch for you when your possible future employer calls them.

Every resume I've ever submitted has an alternate number to myself for the first reference.

Not once in over thirty years has that number ever been called.

There's legally very few questions they can ask.

"Are they rehirable" could be one, but I would just explain that I quit with no notice, new job wouldn't allow me to work an additional two weeks at the old place as they needed me now. Truth or not.

So few employers call anyway.

Not worth my time, especially since you sometimes get treated differently those last couple weeks, or hours reduced, or just let go immediately after giving your notice.

You don't get notice when you're being fired. Most of the time you don't get notice when you get laid off.
