That's standup stuff there! Had a foreman " heads up me" I was being laid off in a week. He had clearly faught to keep me.
I was young and broke. He saved my ass with that week notice!
Company I worked for did a mass layoff. Got a call 3hrs before end of shift to come in to the office 6:30 am.
The journeyman I was working with, as well as I knew what that meant.
Dude was like, do you wanna leave now or get a couple more hours. I was deflated af, so I left.
Come to find out, little less than a week my boss on the fire alarm side didn't know I was laid off. She was pissed, and was rehired before I could find anything else.
But yeah, that Friday morning, 13 or so of us had to be at the office that early to just be let go.
