OK I'm curious to know fruit buffet etiquette here.... like, if I walked up and took that fruit monkey and the dragon fruit fish, brought them back to my table, and ate them... would that be frowned upon?

Once it's on the table, its all free game. The kids loved to eat any of the carvings eyeballs ALL THE TIME. It was like a bet to see how fast someone would eat the eyes of a carving. Sometimes the adults would be guilty.

Was showing my step-son, the fruit goblin. He loved it. This is his paradise lol. Great job.

Well I guess I’m glad they don’t get wasted. Beautiful work btw!

I thought we liked ramps and jacuzzis

Cooks don’t like fruit cooks like ramps and jacuzzis 🎵

I can hear it perfectly in my mind

No ramp, $699.99 max!

Extra points for the Rambutans, Monkeys, fish, and the Pineapple Toucan.

So only a one cent reduction the missing ramps--since the Rambutans bring their own jacuzzis.

There is a ramp, it's made of whole pineapple!

Also, we like nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine! Sometimes harder baby, harder!

The half-peeled rambutans are a nice touch. Also the manageable grape clusters, mangos, and PLUMS! More importantly, it looks like good, ripe fruit, not just a flavorless melon-slicing display. Yay

Our old mexican buffet chef was a savant, could take an orange and turn it into a masterpiece. We had a pumpkin carving contest at work and he self banned himself from entering since it wouldnt be a contest at all. Just another day at work for him.

It still would be cool to see what he did. Even if he didn't want the prize

That'll be 1.2 million, thanks.

And for u/Imkindaalrightiguess & anyone else who doesn't understand the "jacuzzi" mentions--the origin of "The Carrot Jacuzzi" is that bowl of shreds, with the Olive "floating" on top😉

Don't quote the deep lore at me I was there on that day

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 9h ago

Sorry, I wasn't sure if that was a bat signal asking for an explanation--i apologize!💖

Best one I have ever seen

I appreciate that the bananas are appropriately segregated and not getting their banana juice all over the other fruit.

I need to do this immediately at my old folk's home. They make me make the watermelons into baskets every time we have a tea party.

Bonus christmas themed

I spent the first 3 hours of my 15 hour days in corporate/concert/event catering land making fruit trays and shit

Just filling up giant ass boards that would get shrink wrapped to shit with 4 servers carrying them to the transport and a dozen plus platters going to different places. The old Mexican dude I worked with would tag team it with me and he'd start the day off with "ah the fruit... Today I do melons.... You do rest" Sure thing Jose whatever dude. We'll swap tomorrow

Since I’m pretty sure we’ve all seen and commented ‘nO rAmp?????????????’ enough for a lifetime, I propose a new challenge:

HIDE THE RAMP (or jacuzzi, etc) in your bougie boards and displays. Subtle. No one will know but us!!!

u/NanashiKaizenSenpai 5h ago

I like the idea

u/Tzarruka 14h ago

Wer. Ramp.

u/Jeramy_Jones 6h ago

Love those fruit carvings. The addition of the rambutan, star fruit and pink and white dragonfruit is really great too.

This is the birthday spread I want!

u/Vchubbs89 9h ago

Op this is awesome. I wish I had somebody show me how to do something like this just for the fun of it.

7

u/Wooden-Habit-5266 15h ago

That's pretty cool. Are you part of the fruit carving team?

15

u/joe2187 12h ago

Nah, just a themed buffet for a special luau night

It’s a little cheesy, but with that said, I absolutely love it!! Great work

17

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 10h ago

Naaaah. This is so over the top, it's not even cheesy anymore--it's straight-up Camp, and you're right, it's amazing!😉💖

u/awyastark 3h ago

All camp, no ramp, works for me

u/pugdaddy78 15h ago

Maybe it's just me but just looking at a cantaloupe will give me a cold sore
