The half-peeled rambutans are a nice touch. Also the manageable grape clusters, mangos, and PLUMS! More importantly, it looks like good, ripe fruit, not just a flavorless melon-slicing display. Yay
Our old mexican buffet chef was a savant, could take an orange and turn it into a masterpiece. We had a pumpkin carving contest at work and he self banned himself from entering since it wouldnt be a contest at all. Just another day at work for him.
We have an old dishwasher/ex-prep cook, who is amazing at melon carving, but not so much with pumpkins. He says it's because of the difference in the rind.
