Photo/Video Brunch Double
Me- (Name of coworker), did you sleep last night? Him- Zero. I'm about to go shotgun a monster.
This MF shotguns 2 back to back (video is the second one).
Credit to my sous chef for sending me the video lmao. Brunch double had my mans down BAD.

This is funny but very stupid. One, not smart but okay. Two, he won't be able to cook he'll be so jittery.
He looks young so at least he's less likely to have a heart attack or stroke out on the line, but hopefully he learns from this and doesn't do it anymore.

Monsters are actually one of the weaker drinks out there because they market to scrawny emo teens that get sucked from their dish washing job into a brunch double
You can have 2 monsters and still have room for a weaker cup of coffee before you'll reach the the recommended daily max

This is actually my cousin, and funnily enough, his doctor says he's in perfect health (he has a medical issue that requires check ups). This MF literally thrives off of caffeine. He'll come into work at 2 with bout 4 energy drinks, 6 to 8 on a brunch double, and yes perfectly fine. I'm 28-- roughly 4 years older than him, and his knife skills are a lot better than mine, and mine are pretty decent. He might look jittery in the video, but this MF can brunoise whatever you ask him to, effortlessly. Blows my MF mind, BC I'll take a 5 hour energy once in a blue moon, and be jittery as all fuck.
Props to my man, but I do agree that he needs to chill out. He hardheaded as hell, tho.

If the shakes are fast enough you can just hold the knife above whatever you want to cut and let the caffeine do the rest /s

I understand what you mean, but he's meticulous about it, lmao. He ain't chopping super fast, like say, a julienne onion. He's quick with it, but very precise. He also got tested for Autism, and it came back inconclusive, so...there's that, as well lol

Sounds more like my adhd issues than my autism. There is a ton of overlap between the two. Might be worth suggesting the adhd tests.
Especially if that fucker downs a monster and than takes a nap. Caffeine naps are a hallmark

Addicted to caffeine and a medical issue that requires checkups doesnt sound like he’s in perfect health, but then again, im not a doctor.

Here I was thinking "is in perfect health" and "has a medical issue" kinda clash.
But I'm not a doctor either so what do I know.

Not disagreeing about the caffeine, but everyone is supposed to get regular checkups, even people in perfect health. If your job has health insurance you should be using it to get a yearly physical even if you feel fine

Fair, but the point was the medical condition not the checkups. Medical condition by definition means some kind of infirmity or disease, which equates to not having perfect health. You can be in perfect health and still get checkups, they’re not mutually exclusive.

Glad to hear that. Caffeine is one thing, but energy drinks have a lot of additives.
Who am I kidding, I had to learn this through experience (and doing stupid shit is industry standard). At least tell him to drink water because kidney stones are awful.

Hell, back when I started (21), it was coke and rails of Adderall 30s. I don't do that shit anymore. I try to lead by example, and always make sure my team is hydrated

Tell him to shotgun two Monsters right before his next checkup and see if he’s still in perfect health.
Not clowning on the guy, just… this is not a healthy act. Especially for someone in an already stressful situation (brunch).

I was just like this guy till I started getting kidney stones, that'll get you to cut back REAL quick

He's in perfect health yet has a medical issue that requires regular checkups....?
•

He might have untreated ADHD if he drinks that many energy drinks. My ex wife is a chef and when she wasn't on her ADHD meds she drank monsters like water to be able to focus.

It messes up your cholesterol levels too. I had to stop drinking them because of it. Liquid sugar is so bad.

Two zero ultra monsters is about 300 mg (I have a can in front of me so no Google search, lol). That's less caffeine than a large dunkins iced coffee. It's not great for you, but it's not that unordinary. Most people who get hurt from monsters have preexisting heart conditions and would also get issues drinking too much coffee. Drinking zero calorie monsters also helps.

The other day the chef and me was doing a tasting side by side . Gives me a Red Bull and says “let’s fucking go”
After the first course I turn and see him chugging his 3rd Red Bull

A good night's sleep and water is 100% more effective, I learned the hard way after a few large kidney stones

In this economy, I had to switch to straight up caffeine pills. $7 gets you either 60 200mg tabs or 1.5 Red Bulls. You do the math.

I just thought the method and filming it was cringy. I never considered any health risk, like this feels pretty pedestrian?
Edit: I’ve also never been one to cut the hole to shotgun anything tbh, I’m just fine with a chug
