Made halal gamjatang with lamb instead of pork for our muslim friends. They've always wanted to try this dish so glad I was able to make it for them. Turned out great!

A bit embarrassed that my photo skills aren't as polished as most of the people here, but I made seaweed soup for my birthday and wanted to share. 💕

This is a dish called Gamjatang. In "Gamjatang," the word "gamja" does not refer to the actual potato but rather to "gamja-bone." Gamja-bone refers to a unique part of the pig's backbone, and this bone adds rich flavor to the broth. The name "gamja" has no relation to the potato, and in that region, the word "gamja" refers to this specific bone. Gamjatang is a dish made by boiling pig bones to make broth, and then adding gamja-bone or other meat cuts to the pot.

Japcae, Banchan, Jigae, and Jajangbap

When I was kid, I used to love the doenjang-jjigae (Korean soybean paste stew) my mother made. Especially when she cooked it in a ttukbaegi (Korean stone pot), watching the bubbling broth rise to the surface was mesmerizing. I’d scoop a spoonful of rice and enjoy it with the steaming hot stew—it was pure comfort.

These days, I live far from my mother and can't experience that exact taste anymore. But every time I cook doenjang-jjigae in a ttukbaegi, it brings back those warm memories.

Yukgaejang(육개장), side dishes(반찬), and rice(밥). Can't go wrong 👌

Used the Costco kimchi which I love. I hope it tastes as good as I'm told it will!

Since I first tried making kimchi stew I became obsessed with it. I don't make it the traditional way, though, I always use beef bone broth. It makes it more filling in my opinion. Also for banchan there was my clumsy attempt at making pajeon and gyeran-mari, and some store-bought deep-fried gyoza. 잘 먹겠습니다🙏🏻

We don't normally use chicken but that's the meat I had thawed in my fridge lol

Most of my friends drink seaweed soup when served, but otherwise don’t care for it neither will they specifically ask for more. For me, I like it! I’m the sort to get a second serving if possible. What about you?

So I’ve got onion, green onion, 2 Thai chilli’s, a sweet potato, cabbage, kimchi, gochugaru, gochujang, sesame oil, chicken stock, pork belly, the soft tofu, and an egg.

It’s very spicy and quite hearty too. Served it alongside some Korean black rice. I’m happy with how it turned out, especially considering this is my first time using a clay pot!
