META Rule 7 update - Self promotion rule
What changed?
Rule 7 has been updated and has one change:
We are now adding the requirement that for any self promo on the sub that the user has more than 3 months activity on the subreddit.
Why the change?
Recently we have seen an increase in posts of users making a few quick comments on other threads and the next day then posting self promo material. This is technically passing our current rules and so these posts are passing. We do want our users to self promo and promote things they are working on and want to support our community members.... but we want them to be our community members not people that have just done the bare minimum to spam a post and then disappear forever.
Can I give feedback on the change?
Yes. Please do but please make it in this thread. Especially if the language isn't clear.

Political correctness and localizations, censorship
So I'm not an American in fact i don't really care about what happens in usa because i don't live in that country nor do i care about it.
But the truth Is i learned english just to play my favorite Games and read manga that was not available in spanish or localized in hispanicAmerica.
But those localizations were Made by self centered and narcissistic americans who are lefties.
Now i don't think Japan Is innocent as I definetly suspect that a Lot of japanese creators are hiding their own leftie thoughts behind Silence.
So this ruins my experience Since i have to play with the awful localization.
Now about dubs, i think english dubs are all complete junkshit, even the ones praised for being good.
I think most people are Blinded by nostalgia and it Is souless, I'm sorry but i watch some clips of highly praised dubs and i just don't see it.
Dubs Made in USA are bad, they were
But i think that Marchi girl ruined the very few reputation it had. In fact even thought i feel bad for the Man the Marchi chick got fired i still think Romi park blew him In terms of voice acting with Edward elric

non-woke gaming publications/journalism
Hey all!
I thought I'd post this to collect some opinion on the following.
I was pretty active in gaming journalism and publishing. However, I am becoming increasingly concerned about the over-use of woke and liberal ideologies in nearly every facet. I'm not hugely political, but it seems like if you're in the field of gaming journalism and magazine publishing within the genre, you have to conform to this view. This means not being overly critical of titles in case you offend, not being critical of UE5, not being critical of the constant woke/diversity stuff being pushed.
I mean, it gets pretty boring having to conform to sanitized content, and there isn't a home for people who want to write HONEST articles about gaming.
I've also many friends who are pretty fed up with their favourite titles being watered down (i.e. Dragonage...) , or told that they are offensive altogether. Asmongold has many valid points about this, to be honest.
Now, many are turning to physical media. Some really like it for the retro aspect, others perhaps as a rebellion against censorship, and/or trying to preserve / protect against lost media.
However, nearly all physical media titles I look to support (or perhaps write for) are just so woke, and overly political at that. I'm all for different opinions, but it feels like you can only have one...
My question is - would you "back" a non-woke gaming publication? This can mean anything - from buying a more expensive physical copy of said theoretical magazine to have delivered to your door, to downloading an inexpensive PDF copy it, or just casually reading some articles for free on the website.
Thanks!

Bungie paying players $500 for month-long Marathon playtest
archive.phLove how it went from "gamers begging game publishers to get beta access Twitch drops" to "game publishers begging gamers to play their beta and even paying to play their crap" so their games has some decent Steam charts stats lol. In any case, for me, no matter how much they pay, no ecchi waifus, no playing.

"Trigger warnings" miss the fact that media is often SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable
After all, media exists to evoke all kinds of different emotions.
Some of the best scenes in movies, shows, and video games have been ones that left the viewer feeling uncomfortable. Meanwhile, modern media is going out of its way to prevent this with "trigger warnings."
Would Mola Ram ripping a guy's heart out in Temple of Doom been as impactful as it was if there was a warning about it at the start of the movie? Or how about the opening scene in Inglorious Basterds where Hans Landa orders his soldiers to fire away at the floorboards? The same applies to video games as well. The infamous airport mission in MW2 was memorable precicely because it was so unexpected.
Seriously, the whole idea of "trigger warnings" is incredibly stupid and caters to the kind of people who are so fragile that they might as well spend their entire lives inside of a padded room. Nowadays, I even see them in horror games...HORROR GAMES! Why even play a horror game if you don't want to feel scared/anxious?
I miss the days when grown adults didn't need content baby-proofed for them.

Are farm/life sim games cooked?
I don't know how many of you play games like Story of Seasons, but it seems like the alphabets have a chokehold on the farm/life sim genre. SOS Grand Bazaar just came out and of principle, I've decided not to buy due to the pronoun BS. I don't have any hope that the male/female option will ever return. Am I just being dramatic, or does anyone else here feel the same way?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater comes with a trigger warning for 'modern audiences'
And apparently the claim about there being no alterations is false with so far confirmed removal of EVA's jiggle physics and toned down x ray vision mode of her body, with default version also replacing pin-up girl posters with SFW versions of those same women now older (though OG posters are still present in classic mode). Other changes of such nature may still yet to be uncovered.

Resident Evil Requiem has a "realistic" depiction of a panic attack
x.com-Claire Redfield: 19 years old student with no fire arm training fearlessly fighting armies of zombies
-Leon f Kennedy: Rookie cops who fights armies of zombies and giant monsters while doing backflips
-Chris Redield: Punches boulders away and rip monsters spines to stab them with it.
And now you have Grace Ashcroft, an FBI agent who has random panic attacks.

CENSORSHIP Trails in the Sky 1st Is Being Censored At The Source
As some of you might be aware, the Sky Remake is upcoming next month, and the demo has been out for a week. The localization team Gungho promised a "faithful" localization to the Japanese Script.
While the Majority of the Japanese script remained 1-1 to the original, some "problematic" lines were altered directly in Japanese. The above lines are all in the Prologue, which is the duration of the demo.

SOCJUS The Money Behind ‘Nonprofits’ Trying to Infiltrate Gaming and Culture
[TL;DR at the bottom] To the moderators: All the info here is public information, so this post does not break rule 2.
A general aspect people seem to have completely overlooked, at least from what I’ve seen researching the subject, in the battle for modern culture is the formal financial side of ideological infiltration by NGOs into various organizations. I looked into it just for fun and found something I consider quite interesting that isn’t really talked about (with evidence to back it up):
A lot of NGOs spend around 70% of their revenue on causes related to their mission and keep the rest for employee salaries. For example, in 2023, GLAAD, an organization that deals with a lot of DEI nonsense and is systematically trying to get a foothold in the gaming space, brought in about $25 million. Around 77% went to programs and initiatives, leaving roughly 23% for salaries and fundraising. These organizations are run by a small group of people, which means that the salaries for the employees, especially the CEOs can end up being absurdly high.
GLAAD's CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis, earned $674,000 in total compensation last year. In previous years, her pay reached around $815,000. Her compensation is purely performance-based, meaning the more funds she raises, the higher her potential earnings.
Reference: https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/133384027
GLAAD isn’t the only nonprofit like this. Other organizations with similar patterns include:
· Take This – focuses on “mental health in gaming”. CEO salaries aren’t public, but nonprofits in that size range often pay $150k–$300k.
· Games for Change – CEO made $261,000 last reported year.
· Women in Games International – CEO made around $190,000.
Basically, this seems to be a common trend with propaganda NGOs, even outside of entertainment; A lot of the money that is raised through donations goes to a small group at the top of the organization, letting them cash in while pushing their agenda.
Some people here will probably say “duh, no shit,” but the data makes it clear just how much money is at stake for the grifters who aren’t outright communists trying to destroy everything and everyone they dislike, and why they will go out of their way to protect their money-printing machines.
TL;DR: NGOs, including those in gaming and culture, spend around 70–77% of revenue on programs and the rest on salaries and fundraising. This allows top executives to earn very high pay; GLAAD’s CEO made up to $815k in 1 year. Similar patterns exist at Take This, Games for Change, and Women in Games International, showing high leadership salaries are common in nonprofits.

GAMING FULL MATCH: Hawlucha vs. Machamp! | Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Mega Hawlucha Reveal)
I have contradictory sentiments: I like that Hawlucha is getting something to not be left behind by powercreep, but also this eliminates the possibility of a future evolution.
